If Branthwaite is on the bench next season then we really are in a bad way. If he stays here getting no games then it could be 2/3 years before we actually realise if he’s good enough or not. I’d much rather see him out on loan and get tested.
According to this forum after a few games Browning and Galloway were future England regulars, they didn’t bomb because they went on loan, they bombed because they didn’t have ALL the attributes to make it here. I’d much rather Branthwaite went out and proved himself.

I don't disagree with you but that's kind of the problem right now. He is currently our 4th best CB in the squad ....he's at least on the bench.( Holgate / Mina injury concerns ? ) We're 2 weeks out of the season start and we've signed no one of note. Our first XI that finished mid table is unchanged. Most would agree we have more pressing needs than CB in the transfer market so I don't think loaning him out should be a priority unless there is a massive plan with several moves linked. ( As an Evertonian for almost 50 years..as much as Id like to be wrong...that would be a break from normal service ! )

It appears the 4th CB spot is his over Gibson.

Has Gibson stalled after his promising youth career and reached his level or has he just not been lucky to get an opportunity like branthwaite?

I loved that Carlo is a bit more proactive when his players are out of form and give the youth a go compared to previous managers who seem to play an out of form player regardless.

It worked with Branthwaite and Gordon, both showing they can keep up with senior football.

how do you know?
not saying you're wrong, just wondered with very little to go on.

Gibson did really well out on loan at Fleetwood. Very impressive by all accounts.
Anyway, having watched Branthwaite, I’d say he was our second best central defender. There was a calmness about him that usually only comes with age and experience.
I wouldn’t want him going on loan to be coached by some lower division clogger.
Leave him under Carlo, I think he’ll get games. He’s already shown just how good he can be.

Didnt say "world beater" did i...

The fact you rate Michael Keane after watching him fail in possibly 90% of games is somewhat bewildering.
I don't rate Keane particularly highly .

I suggest you re-read my post .

I think you missed the word unfortunately.
