Well that’s the point. If we can’t guarantee him minutes who cares how much bigger the PL is?
Well I was just responding to what you said? I don't think the status of PSV as a club or the fact they may be in a second or third tier European competition would make him want to move there, and you appeared to be suggesting they would, so i'm addressing that. If they really were a top European club then that would be different, which is why I made the distinction. As I said, I agree that he is going to want to play.

We're not Liverpool

Who's not picking a usual title fight and European football over bench minutes at possibly Championship Everton?

I mean I’ve been pretty clear that I’m talking about us being in the PL and have said twice that he’s obviously going to want to play but yeah.

Moving from big clubs in lesser leagues to less successful clubs in the PL is something that happens all the time too, so not sure where you’re going with this one.

Well I'm going with the players also move from struggling PL clubs to big clubs in lesser leagues too :) (since all leagues are lesser than ours)

The "it's always been my dream of playing in the PL" doesn't really work when you've already done it.

Its amazing how players fall of career trajectory if they move to a different leagues take Tomori and Abraham, who seemed bright young England hopefuls in the PL and seem just have fallen of any radar playing in Serie A. That said you have Bellingham and Sancho, who got recognition with moves away - though they were dropping shapes in the CL.

The Dutch league wouldn't be great, you can get talented players there, but as a % of players they would be in the lower sample.

Why i wouldn't sell him to PSV is that their model is all about investing, improving and selling for a higher fee - they obviously see an appreciation in Jarrod as an asset, id prefer if we cultivated that - even if we are to sell at some stage.

The reality is as well, that PSV will not be able to afford his wages permanently.

Brainthwaite's next contract, be that here or elsewhere is likely to be reasonably substantial, and probably far beyond what a Dutch team would want to commit to longer term.

He has been linked with Liverpool, United and City before his move to PSV and his recent positive run in the side.

If he was available, I honestly think there will be suitors far beyond PSV interested, who will pay a lot more money.

Our gamble, is what figure are we happy to be compensated on that potential. Let's say there is a potential of a 50m defender in there. At what figure do we say we are happy to take cash, while not being burdened with a player still learning on the job? I think 20m+ would be approaching that zone, but I'm sure there will be a wider range of views.
