It's a bit odd him buying Man Utd, he seems a perfect fit for them lot over the park.

I’ve not been following Ratcliffe closely but I believe his actions so far have been:

- deprioritising the Man Utd women’s team
- telling Forest, Everton and others to realise how important the ‘big 6’ are
- putting non-playing staff at United up for redundancy
- trying to buy Branthwaite for the price of a good Championship player

He seems to deride the heritage of the game, and to constantly be trying to put people in their place, if he considers them less important than him.

I've never had any love for Man United but they used to at least be an institution with a bit of pride, now they're laying off 25% of their staff and cryarsing in the media all because they simply can't afford the footballers they believe they're entitled to. Pathetic.

Devil's advocate - can someone tell me what a football club needs a thousand employees for? Most Prem clubs seem to get by with far fewer.

Yeah he appears to be a bit of a arrogant bully and a bell end
100% agree with this about Ratcliffe, mind.

Any cost savings through cutting roles that have been present for more than X years should be excluded from benefitting PSR position, at least for one year, or even a 3 year cycle. Thats not the way to do it. Welcomed into the club like a saviour too. Yuck.
To be fair to Jim, a lot of those layoffs seem to be financial consultants and the like that are paid crazy money to do F all. They very well could have been dead weight left over by the previous administration hence the comments on the club not being run properly. But I agree- no owner should be incentivized by PSR to fire people. That is just a really bad look.

I don’t know exactly how these things work but if they lay off a bunch of workers wouldn’t the cost of the one-off redundancy payments be a far bigger hit in the accounts than the wages saved? So in terms of 24/25 PSR wouldn’t that leave them worse off?
