2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

I'm not sure its wise to offer him the captaincy if there will be a new manager taking over.
Why not? I think that managers are a thing of the past for the new Everton, it will be head coaches, who will work within parameters laid down by the C.E.O. and D.O.F. from here on in. I think and hope that we may well be run as a business with a plan across the board now.

With the absolute mess theyve made with 4 managerial appointments at Roma, i wouldnt assume anything.

Mourinho and Juric are both foreign managers with Italian management experience. De Rossi and Ranieri have the Roma links.

To that end I would suggest it may be the opposite type of manager to them (all but Ranieri were binned)...though who knows?

Now, looking at a 22 year old centre back and thinking its a great move to encourage him to stay -- I agree.

But perhaps he isnt the leader type? Perhaps he may be better suited to be made Vice Captain...or nothing and focus on developing?

I think thats really something for the manager to decide.

From having watched him play, I feel he is every inch a potential leader. It's probably moot anyway, because I think he will want out. Either way, it is worth trying to persuade him let us build around him if he doesn't want to stay then set a figure, beneath which we will not sell him.

He's just a top CB already.

So much better defending on the counter with him around. There was one time in the second half when Chelsea were quickly breaking down the left with Myko out of position but I wasn't worried as any time know Branth will get across and there he was to effortlessly toe it out for a harmless throw in.

If he starts another 15 games this season the team stays up no question. Picks up a two month injury and it becomes questionable again.

I thought coming back from injury and how much the team needed him back to his best would have been a load to bear for the fella.
He has all the prerequisites to be a leader on the pitch at the highest level.
Hopefully that’s here at Everton.
Fabulous player.
