I'm wishing I bought vinyl now but the cd was less than 2 quid on ebay lolIt's an amazing album. I still have a vinyl version and a CD version, but now stream the mastered ( well, the 24 bit copy of the master ) version on some kit I bought over the first lockdown.
I can honestly say the original master has little bits of detail I never heard on either the vinyl or CD version. Well, I can say that, but I'm probably just trying to convince myself that that's the case !
Pretty sure this would fall under the "discordant cacophony with people who own instruments thinking random noises are improvisation" for @chrismpw I'm afraid, but much as I like Miles, Coltrane, Coleman and the like, I find Sun Ra's more out-there stuff absolutely transportive. Soz. You're in good company though, Chris, my wife absolutely loathes this stuff too.
She honestly doesn't lol . Her favourites are Cyndi Lauper and Madonna.Good lord you wife has taste!
My lathe makes more melodic noises lol

Nobody around here like surprises mate. Its why we stick with Everton and the mundane predictable regularity of disappointment.Big fan, mainly modal/spiritual jazz - soothing and easy to listen to, nothing too 'far out'
The new scene is fantastic, a breath of fresh air
If anyone is interested in dipping their toe in the water, I can recommend the 'Spiritual Jazz' compilations on Jazzman Records and a compilation on Soul Jazz records called 'Soul Jazz Records presents Kaleidoscope - New Spirits Known & Unknown' for the new stuff
Give it a go, you might be surprised...

Soul Jazz compilations are brilliant, so varied.
Yeah, was about to say the same. Absolutely brilliant label. Been on their mailing list for years, discovered so much fantastic music thanks to them.Soul Jazz compilations are brilliant, so varied.
