All seems a bit committing - like how do you ever listen to a pop song again if you're into jazz? Must sound like Baa baa black sheep.

Think I'll stick to the nursery rhymes.

Haha. When I got into Jazz in my early twenties I became a bit of a jazz snob. Couldn't listen to stuff I'd grown up loving. Ended up appreciating pop/rock etc more than before .
Haven't got a clue how to explain that process though.

Might be a silly question but is the entire point of jazz the feeling at the time? Can they ever replicate a song if they just kind of freestyle it every time they play?

Can't be doing with it at all. Just noise, And that scooby dooby doo singing ( or whatever it is) A big no. I did however spend a lot of my late teens at the weekly jazz night at the Phil pub trying to impress a young man I was smitten with. he used to go there ( he drove an orange Fiat Mirafiori Sport and eventually hooked up with my best mate, who swiftly became my ex best mate)
I remember everybody being very impressed one week with Victor Brox and his bass tuba.....I am not making this up!

You're in the wrong thread mate, this defo belongs in the Blues thread.

Woke up one morning ...
Went down to The Phil
To woo a young man
Whose name wasn't Bill
He left with my best friend
So I drank till I was ill.

Might need a bit of work, but the feel is there.
