Maybe they are waiting for the right opportunity to bring him into the squad. Has the 25 man squad for 2nd half of the season been named yet? If he's in that I would think they are hopeful of him playing if he's not then it suggests there is more to this story.

They said in November he was a couple of weeks away from being able to play. It's now February and they're saying he hasn't even come back to light training yet. I don't mind them not giving updates and if he's had a setback then he's had a setback and in many was that's none of our business, but let's not make out like there's nothing to see here, it's definitely weird.

This, very weird from the club. It looks like he’s had another setback and they’ve been trying to cover it up hoping we’d forget about him.

“At least eight weeks” was the club’s timescale for the initial injury.

“Eight weeks” later (9 months) he did a club interview, talking about returning for the post lockdown run-in last season. The last time he was heard from.

Picked up an Achilles injury on the 28th May 2020 ruling him out for the rest of the year. McNulty gave a timescale of 9 months.

What I’d like to know is how the initial injury ended up turning into 9 months from 8 weeks.

They discovered dead tissue from a previous injury was causing issues with his recovery from the initial injury so had to get a second surgery to clean it up, setting his recovery back
