....worth a reminder of why he was brought in & it was lots to do with much needed running power in CM. Doucoure also provides this, but it will be a huge bonus if Gbamin can get back to full fitness. A huge addition, Ancelotti will be very keen to have him available.

Like Doucoure, this fella’s game is probably as much to do with what he does without the ball as what he does with it. There won’t be defence splitting passes, but he can go with runners, has powers of recovery when the opposition are beyond him & he can get us up the pitch with his transition from defence to attack.

I’ll be surprised but very happy if he can replicate that same approach to games after missing almost two years of football. Especially in the Premier League.

When was the last time a footballer was out for as long as he has been and returned to be a success?

You can see hes still a long long way off from being at a good fitness level yet. On the training vid he's involved just in the short one touch passing drill but isn't doing any pressing. Isn't involved in the small aided games. Looks like they're just trying to get him involved with the squad bit by bit.

It is difficult to see him getting back to the level seen in that video given the tempo and aggressive nature of his game. However if he can come back from injury to those levels then he could just be what we need to complete our midfield. Playing him and Allan in front of our defence would allow Doucoure to make forward runs, it would allow James the freedom to be a bit more expressive and also allow Richarlson to go on more runs. The full backs could also go forward more as they would have more cover. All depends on how he recovers. I think he needs to play a few times to give Carlo an idea of his level, if he is not going to make it we need to buy someone who will. Personally I hope it is him apart from the money I hate to see talent wasted or destroyed.

Cazorla returned to a pretty high level. Different kind of player though.

Different roles as well, GBamin’s involves a lot more running around and getting stuck in.

Think it will be miraculous if he manages to become a constant in our starting XI. I will be very happy if he does, the lad has such rotten luck and could do with something good happening for him. Would also mean we have a bit more money to play around with in the summer for other positions.

He will play before the season is out, of this there is no doubt
He will have to play
Ancelotti will have to assess him and see if he can be a useful member of the squad
The answer to this will have an impact on Ancelotti transfer plans for the summer
So I can see him playing some game time before the season ends

I agree, I think he needs to play a bit to see if he has a chance of coming back.

Only as a sub for a long while yet.

Looks like he would have been useful these past 2 seasons and would have provided something our midfield has lacked.

Whilst I think he is unlikely to impact this season materially, I think Carlo and Brands will want to give him some minutes and get an idea whether he will be useful next season or not. How has he recovered from his injury, does he breakdown etc etc. This will indicate who they need to buy for midfield.

Maybe depending on his recovery will decide what CM we need.

A cm who can actually pass would be nice whatever the outcome
