Is there any examples of players getting over the injuries he had?

Two serious injuries wasn't it. Suppose he has age on his side if that helps the recovery..

God awful
That’s harsh, I’m sure he hadn’t played a minute of pre season for us and for Mainz either. Probably hadn’t had a lot of time on the training ground and was thrown in to the game after an injury to Gomes at half time.

then Schneiderlin got sent off and we finished the last 20mins a man down.

Yeah the injuries may have have caused long term damage and he may struggle. But let's wait and see him play rather than just assume?

Very reasonable. This thread is one of the most toxic on here IMO.. the poor guy is regularly labelled garbage, crap etc like he deserves to be punished for suffering two near career ending injuries back to back!

It's normal to have concerns about him, but I really hope he does well. I like to see people work their back and get the rewards. Whether he can or not, who knows, but let's wait and see.

As I recall the Palace game, the lad didn't know what had hit him in the first 20 minutes or so, but showed he was quickly coming to terms with the English game by having a decent the second half.

He was god awful like. It's absolutely fine, anyone can have a bad game at any point, and he was probably thrown in earlier than we wanted and may have taken a while to get to the pace of the league anyway. It certainly doesn't mean he isn't/wasn't/won't be a good player, but he really was bad in that game. I remember saying at the time it might be the worst debut i'd ever seen, he was properly bad.

The worst debut, have a word with yourself. Like I’ve said the 50mins on the pitch we had 10men for 20 of them. And we didn’t concede, so I’m sure that wouid count for something.

When I’ve seen defenders & goalkeepers have Nightmares in games we’ve been battered in. And strikers missing sitters and looking like bambi on ice. To say it was the worst debut is ridiculous

Calm down mate, it's possible that I was being slightly hyperbolic. I've not rewatched the game or anything, I said i remember saying it at the time. Funnily enough none of the people I was chatting to at the time (who'd all been at the game) burst a blood vessel kicking off about it, because everybody agreed that he had been really bad. We didn't sit and make a list of the worst debuts unfortunately, but I'd definitely be interested to read yours.
