2021/22 Jean-Philippe Gbamin

We failed this lad.

We played him while he wasn't fit which lead to a huge injury layoff.

Comes back from a disaster start only to break down again (should he be playing foot tennis?!?)

So after 2 years out, we make no effort to give him the game time in under 23's.

I hope gets the loan move and finds his form which hopefully leads to us getting the player we signed back.

Being talked about here in the past tense... Have I missed an announcement or is it just the usual negativity doing the rounds?

It is fanciful to suggest we’d get anyone stupid enough to buy him this window, with his injury record over the last two years. Even Jack Wiltshire has played more in all seriousness a loan is the best we can hope for and the lad can get his career back on track elsewhere.

Another player destined for endless loans until their contract runs out then. Gbamin just had no luck here, those injuries he had would finish most and we'll never know whether he could have ever reached any sort of decent level.

One weird thing about it all to me is not having him play a load of games for the under 23s to get back up to speed, makes me think both parties might have known he was finished much earlier.
Same mate, can’t understand why this route wasn't used to try & get back some sort rhythm.

Watched toffee tv today said that he refused to play at u23. Think the lad himself has a part to take in the blame. Would be best for both if he moves on

Seeing as nobody will offer him anywhere near the wages he'll be earning with us, he'll almost certainly be another of those who sits out their contracts with us and goes on numerous loan deals where no club is prepared to actually pay money for him. Don't blame him for any of this, by the way.

I think it is more likely he will go out on loan to prove himself.

I doubt any team will match the wages we are paying him with his injury record.
I would like to see him go out on loan and play as a centre back and see where it goes from there.
