I would have started Gbamin in this one unless he is absolutely atrocious in training that we don’t see.

He came with a big reputation and you have to believe there is a player in there somewhere. These type of games are a soft introduction and a way of giving him minutes at a slightly slower pace than the PL which he clearly isn’t up to at the minute

I’ve seen a few posts saying he had a big reputation etc recently but was that really the case? I don’t think I’d ever heard of him and my main memory of the talk at the time was whether he’d be a centre mid or centre back. At the end of the day though he’s a professional footballer with plenty of top level games under his belt it always seems a bit odd when people get surprised that players like that aren’t totally incompetent and can sometimes even look good it’s not like they’re pub players whatever we sometimes say on forums.

He was looked at by some big clubs the year before mate so he was definitely on the radar as one for the future.

As far as it goes about him being a pro footballer and having games under his belt, I think that’s all good and well but he doesn’t have games under his belt post injury which is the problem. After coming back from so many injuries, he needs to mentally feel like his body is up to it and needs to regain that confidence in himself again. He can only do that by getting minutes in my book
