He's lost a huge amount of time in a very crucial part of his development. It's more likely that it's completely ruined his potential as a player imo.

Not a fan of people looking for a scape goat here, especially pointing the finger at the player. By all accounts 2 freak injuries that have cost him all that time.
Just one of those things sadly.
Sensible comment alert ?

Just a bad situation unfortunately, the internet is an unforgiving place. There has to be someone we can criticise in amongst all this? Surely?

I think he might start today preferably in a 3 man midfield.

Be very interesting, he didn’t get much of luck under occupied Everton regime, yet he’s in a good run of fitness, different manger, he’s one I’ll be keeping an eye to see can he be more a part of the team/squad and a viable option.

Youd like to think we’ve a manger now understand midfield blend,

He's been unlucky with injury I agree but ultimately now he's fit he should be banging down Kenwrights door demanding a loan to get back playing week in week out and getting his career back on track.

It just seems to me he seems in no rush to push on and get on the pitch when the last two managers have barely ever used him.

At some point you have to question his mentality and motivation same as Tosun turning down loan moves when he knows his time here is over.
Or, perhaps, he wants to prove himself at the club he signed for? As of until the last day of the window, we were almost critically short of midfielders too.

Loaning him out would have been negligent even if he may not be fully up to the task physically or in terms of ability, and in the end it may have been too late.

Personally, I have a lot of sympathy for the lad as he's came here and suffered two horrendous injuries; there's also doubts regarding our medical team.

As @LostLegend said, this will have had a huge impact during a critical period of his development and may have also impacted on his mental well-being.

Without the injuries, he may have been a good player or he may not have been. All things considered, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

If people are going to continue crticising players, there's far more valid candidates than Gbamin.

Injuries happen in football mate it comes with the territory. Whilst I have sympathy for the lad its clear he isn't getting a sniff here so why not ask for a move elsewhere even just on loan to get regular game time?

We aren't a charity yet we seem to act like one - remember giving Coleman a 5 year extension just weeks after him having a double leg break?

We cant moan about FFP/wage bill then stockpile injury hit players and let them sit around the place on 80k a week not contributing until their contracts expire.

Is there any evidence he ‘went against medical advice’? I’ve seen reports vaguely saying some people were surprised he picked him given his lack of fitness but nothing to say he ignored actual science. I would imagine gbamin would have a pretty strong legal case against us if that’s true.
Yes it was quote in the press, iirc, by Silva in his presser...gist...its probably a bit early for Gbamin but we're a bit short.
He wasn't fit when he joined
He wasn't Match fit, or anywhere near, when he played.
He broke down, never to be the same, if he was ever that good anyway.
But not his fault, he didn't sign himself.

the truth is, we don't really know what is going on behind the scenes. He may be gash and we cant offload him, or he may be good but the club are uber concerned about his rehab and structuring it. Either way, I'd like to see him get some game time whether that be 1st team, u23 on loan

Nobody is saying we are a charity. As I mentioned, until deadline day we had Doucouré out (eight weeks) and Delph and Davies injured both long term.

In terms of midfield, we could have only relied on Allan and Gomes in the midfield if we'd let Gbamin go. Would he not have got a sniff?

I'm sure they will now be looking at options if he doesn't have a future here, but let's wait and see. In all honesty, I'd like to see him around the squad today.

Agree, but I don’t think they were freak injuries, I think he’s very injury prone. See Norman Whiteside.

Yeah I remember that but that’s what I’m saying, playing someone who’s not quite 100% yet and going against medical advice are two very different things.

Didn’t he refuse to play for the U23 or was that somebody else?

Well Norman Whiteside injuries were down to a knee injury he suffered when he was young, he never fully recovered.

Gmblammo literally tore his thigh off and needed multiple surgeries to recover, once he recovered he ruptured his Achilles playing foot tennis in training.

You cant get any more freaky.
