Tbf that was one of his first games back, he hadn’t played in nearly 2 years ?
He had played, he did an entire pre-season under Benitez and played two full 90 mins in the League Cup. Obviously his sharpness wasn't 100%, but by that point his injury rust should have been well behind him. He looked like a school boy playing amongst men, it was actually sad.
Am I allowed to tell you that's an absolute lie?
In 5 pre-season games:
1st game - Didn't play
2nd game - 45 mins and goal
3rd game - Didn't play
4th game - 30 mins
5th game - Less than 10 mins
He then didn't get a single minute, sometimes missing the squad entirely, till he played 90 mins on the 24th August in the League Cup, he then didn't play again till Wolves in November.
Let's not pretend he had a lot of minutes post-injury to get back up to speed.
I hope this lad can get some proper game time under his belt in Russia and proper pre season.
He`d save us a lot of money, if he could come back and fulfil the potential that he was bought for.

Fair enough that's my error, thought he'd played in the QPR game as well. He wasn't injured during last summer's pre-season, just Benitez obviously took one look and thought no thanks.
I definitely don't think he's good enough either, who knows if he ever would have been prior to his injuries?
It's time all parties moved on because it's been so exhausting. Playing well now in Russia means sod all surely no one disagrees with that?!

He was injured up till the 2nd pre-season game, hence on the OS, it says "Jean-Philippe Gbamin stepped up his comeback from injury by playing 45 minutes and scoring in a 1-0 practice match victory against Blackburn Rovers at USM Finch Farm."

I can’t understand at all why he wasn’t playing consistently for the U23’s.
Because the club have zero brains when it comes to rehabilitating injured players. Hence so many recurring injuries.

Was reported he didn't want to it's modern day player they don't want to "downgrade" but I agree it might have helped his fitness. He needed a run of games so a loan makes sense the issue is our lack of options at dm.

I thought it was clear to all that Gbamin needed lots of playing time following his terrible injuries.
Lets hope he continues to play well and that he is ready to go next season. The club needs to spend a bucketfull
of cash on various positions so getting him back would be ideal.

Let's hope so, but, I don't think he will ever make it here. Shame, but, I think that ship has sailed. If he can stay fit, it's probably best for all concerned if he moves on to a league that is a little less intense, perhaps Italy, Spain or Holland. He never had a chance here and that's a shame, but, in view of his injury record, I just don't think he could handle the physicality of the Prem.

If nothing else he is showing consistency and then it may be that he goes elsewhere on loan during the summer or a club signs him.
