After a massive injury it's pretty normal to pick up other niggles as you return to fitness. If you don't look after those niggles carefully you end up with another massive injury. It has to be a better safe than sorry approach or we'll cripple him for life.
 
I feel sorry for him. He will be as keen to get out there as anyone. There was no point risking him if there was a niggle and to be fair he would have made no difference to that result. Hopefully like James it is only minor and both can be at least available for bench duties. Maybe Benitez should have named him as 9th substitute knowing full well he wouldn't use him and he would have saved himself a whole lot of awkward questions on both him and James.

Taking into consideration the seriousness of his injuries over the past few years, I'd want the club to be overly cautious with his rehabilitation and return.
