Jelavic on Moyes and Martinez

Martinez was like a breath of fresh air when he came and he understood the club and its history. He won over the fans quickly and his first season was brilliant. When Distin left it broke up a very solid back line and John Stones was not a big game player. It went wrong for Martinez ultimately in 2015/16 and a lot of it was down to the defensive side of the game. Saying that, I remember we went to Man City in 2016 and put it one of the best defensive displays I've seen and we came away with a 0-0. Two cup semi finals in 2016 as well but it was the derby defeat which finished him.
The players turned against him like they have with other managers.

I liked him and wanted him to turn it around but he had no chance with those players at the time. I wonder how our transfer windows in 16 and 17 would have went with him spending that kind of money?

Interesting point he made there.

So much pressing and passing

Yet after that first season we saw none of it from the players.

Makes you wonder what exactly else was wrong within the playing staff if they weren't applying that on the pitch.

Fitness and not concentrating on defence or being out of possession is the main reasons.

Punted Nikica Jelavic and replaced him with Arouna Kone. Maybe we would have got 4th that season if Jelavic could have picked up when Lukaku wasn’t in form rather than us having only one striking option.

Highest amount of points to not get a champions League spot.

Think United finished 4th on less points we amassed in the previous season

Baines was having none of Martinez. Remember when he was looking at him in bemusement getting instructions.

Or Leighton was right to chase that chancer out of town.

Baines was also one of the main supporters of Martinez coming into the club. He is quoted as mentioning to to team-mates when his Wigan team spanked us in the cup..."wouldnt mind him here managing us".

Considering he spent relatively big money on Kone, Niasse and Funes Mori, my guess would be absolutely terribly.

I just want to see the GIF of Martinez doing that dance move at the club lol
