2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Not impressed so far, but I’m hoping a tactical tweak or more games can help him. The fact he’s dead fast and can hit a ball makes me think he has to have his uses.

Move the ball through Ndiaye and just hope he can hit on counters or get over the top.

I think the lads confidence levels are at rock bottom after the season he has just had in Italy. He needs a run of games where he comes off the bench for the last half hour, this is a period of the game when the bit of pace and decent first touch he has could be very useful. He shows some good ability, but, his mentality seems to be very fragile at the moment, one mistake and his head drops.

Shows glimpses of class and offers something different to what we have - I hope we persevere with him starting games to build his confidence and allow us to start on the front foot. For me he's a step up on Harrison.

Quite hilarious in this thread hearing someone say Lindstrom needs ‘conditioning’. I mean what do you think professional footballers do at Eintracht Frankfurt or Napoli? Same as in England or Spain. Give him a chance hes in a new country, has quality…

You can see how Glasner set Palace up in that 3-4-3, Eze and the other lad playing almost like 2 number 10s and that’s where Jesper would have been played at Frankfurt… to his strengths - dropping into space between the lines or running beyond the striker, not trying to beat a man and leg it down the wing.

Playing him wide right reminds me of when we used to try and play Bily wide left… it’s not going to be playing to his strengths… he’s more a 10. Ironically I think Eze works better as a wide player than in role/pos Glasner puts him in.

I thought being 'PL ready' wasn't a thing, also.

Could be a player in their, just not sure we are the right club at the right time fo rhim to get his confidence back.

Looks a more number 10 / free roll type attacked, that needs proper micro-managing / molly coddling...not sure Goodison at the moment is that.

You can't write the lad off just yet.

He clearly needs time to adapt. To me, it's clear he's yards off the pace. He probably needs some time to build confidence, too. He barely got a kick last season, with just a handful of minutes on the pitch. Before that, he was playing at Brøndby and Eintracht Frankfurt – both miles away from the intensity and pace of the Premier League, in a struggling side.

People were acting as though he was the next Kanchelskis before we'd seen him kick a ball. The clamour for him to start this season, and the fume towards Dyche for not starting him from the off, looks even more silly now.
I wouldn't say it's that silly from a fans perspective but from a clubs perspective.

If he's been brought in, it should be to help the team immediately.

If he's not ready to help and is one for the future, I'd say we should've picked a better target.

Nothing wrong with the fans expecting a new signing to be capable of starting games.

He's a different option to what we've had, has decent pace and has been getting into good positions despite poor finishing. A bit of time to adjust and he'll be a regular starter for us I'm quite sure.

I think this is close to the truth.

He is just after a terribly poor season, he has come to a new country, league, club and he needs time to settle.

I think that if we were now sitting on ten or twelve points with people talking about Europe rather than relegation it would be much easier for him to settle.
The players must be feeling the pressure after the first few results and there must be a nervousness after losing some games which should not have been lost.

I think we will have to look at him over a season before we reach and judgement on him.

Exactly this.

Exactly.
