We don't "have" to sign anybody.

We can decide to sign good players at a good price if we are prepared to actually do the work. But I agree. We probably aren't.

That's no get out of jail card, though.
There are no guarantees that any player will be good.

Good players at a good price is the holy grail that every club is chasing. Mykolenko probably fits, Patterson we’re still waiting to find out. Gray at 1.7m is what you get in that category, inconsistent!

I think you largely end up buying players around your level. Good players know they are good and will go elsewhere.

The exception perhaps is buying from South America where players seem more willing to take a chance with lower European sides and leagues.

Where would he play? Attacking midfield in a three of left sided forward I presume?

Two areas where we are heavily stocked unless we are letting Dele go.

I don't see Gray, Gordon or Iwobi moving on.

We still have around 3-4 too many players before we even recruit.

To be clear I don’t want this clown at the club, but that argument falls down when we’ve just sold out first choice left-sided forward.

Yes, I realised Richarlison left yesterday. But Gordon and Grey's best position is also left sided forward.

So we have 2 fit left sided forwards & one right sided forward who is crocked until 2023.

Seems a little imbalanced to me.

I think with Iwobi’s more recent form, and our eggs in the Dele basket (who is miles better than Lingard will ever be, when he’s in the right form), I just can’t see us throwing £120k+ pw and a big signing fee at him.

We’re well stocked in that central attacking role.

Personally think Iwobi's best games have been right wing back. He's turned into Victor Moses.

Whether or not he wants or likes that is a different story because to me... he's 4th choice on the wing or even a number 10.

Gray and Gordon. 53 appearences combined. 9 goals.

Lingard. 16 appearences for west ham. 9 goals.

Just putting it out there. Richarlisons goals have now gone.

You have Dele Alli as well, to fit in. Where his natural position is left forward. I wouldn't be looking for a like for like replacement.
If I was spending the money, it would be going firmly in the centre of the park.
I mean I would probably look to punt out the majority of the team. But knowing that isn't the done thing. Then the money needs to go on midfield.

It wouldn't shock me to see Gray move on mate, even for 10m it'd be a huge profit given what we paid
