So where obviously looking for a loan with an option to buy. Why? Thats not the way you get quality players. It may have worked with players like Arteta and Pienaar who had been poor for the previous clubs but thats not the case with Moutinho. He's an international, a captain and a key player for Sporting.

I also more or less says we've got no chance of signing him. Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona are also interested.

I'll be watching aswell. He's a fantastic player but I've always had doubts over his positional sense. According to Sotnas he's improved vastly in this area so I'll be keeping an eye out for that.

Personally I don't think he's out of our reach. If you look at the likes of Barca, Liverpool, Man utd and Chelsea there all solid at centre midfield. Only Arsenal spring to mind and all Moutinho would be there is a squad player. I doubt he'd work alongside Fabregas.

Hopefully we can get him.

After missing out on one target, Moyes is now set to scout for others while he is out at the Euro 2008 Championships.
He is due in Geneva tonight to run the rule over Joao Moutinho, whose Portugal side take on Czech Republic.
The 21-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder is thought to favour a move to a Premier League club but Everton would have to break their transfer record to land him for around £12million.
Moyes will also look at the Czechs’ David Jarolim, who would add much-needed versatility to the midfield at Goodison.
The 29-year-old Hamburg captain can play in the centre or on the right and operates for his country in the type of five-man midfield system that Moyes favours.
