Is that in Spanish or something? what does 'O E B L L B E O SELBOR' mean? I get the last 6 letters are Robles backwards like. You suggesting he should have turned around on the shoot out and tried to save them with his arse?
No, I was bored. Reload the page and you should see it properly.

GET SELBOR ON FFS!

Credit where due- excellent performance. I think he got thrown off massively by Adrian's (excellent) gamesmanship.
He even started imitating him-
talking to the shooters
throwing his hand out in the direction
jumping up and down

- he did all of these things only after Adrian did

I reckon he lost focus a bit. Which happens. He can only learn for future from this.
I do however really like that Adrian cat though.

Adrian was terrible, I have heard shouts of go for him before and watching him last night he's poor.

I said it another thread but our pens were dreadful and Adrian should of got about 4 of them, he could of sat on Oviedo's yet there's people knocking Robles' performance in the shootout and praising his.

He saved the same as Robles but Robles 'save' was a great stop low in the corner from Downing whilst Adrian's was just an average pen at a great height by Naismith as many of ours was. The next one from us went in the exact same spot but was even worst.

It just goes to show how you can go from hero to zero or vice versa in seconds.

He played well last night ! He was laughable in the penalty shootout though. After 3 my wife said she'd fancy taking one against him.

.....I listened to the commentary on Talksport and as they were preparing for the shoot-out the commentator said RM had informed him that Robles is a specialist penalty saver. Practices them every day, including the mental aspect of keeping calm. Clearly didn't work last night.

Penalty takers can be intimidated by a keepers size, I think Robles lost that advantage by coming out and diving early.

Generally, though, he's improving and could be worth persisting with. I suspect there might be a howler or two to come but the pain might be worth it in the long term.

The main problem was that he not only always dived low to his left every time, but he did it really early, while the taker still was deciding where to put it. I think Downing out thought himself by thinking Joel would dive the other way for once.

My mate's a United fan, and so we watch all United and Everton games together. As a result, I have seen the emergence of De Gea, and now the emergence of Joel, who I believe kept De Gea out of all of the Spanish youth sides? Anyway, watching Joel now is like watching De Gea 2/3 years ago when he was slated by many (including me) for saving with the wrong hand (making them look better) and not being commanding of his area. Also an inability to catch. He shook this off with regular game time, which I believe Joel now fully deserves. Joel reminds me of De Gea in every way, and is already starting to improve at catching the ball. Give Joel the rest of the season.
Ah this total and utter myth once again,

Joel played 7 games (at least 2 as a sub) for Spains age group sides in his whole life

De Gea played 63 games

De Gea was also playing for the Athletico 1st before Joel (who was never 1st choice there) depsite being an age group younger

I'm not defending Robles in the pens but despite being poor and guessing wrong, I though he was better than Adrian.

My comment was about Adrian's gamesmanship affecting Joel
You might think it didn't
I really think it did

I'm not particularly arsed as they're keeper was dong exactly the same, I'd expect my keeper to do what every other keeper does and try to get away with what he can.

Although if Robles had stayed on his line and not moved forward, I am sure the majority of posters on here would of been on here praising him today for playing by the rules.
