All the 'experts' who wrote this lad off.

He's fast on his way to being #1.
Apart from the fact he couldn't save a penalty to save his life?

Dived far too early for every penalty and handed West Ham the next stage. Went hero to zero last night very quickly

Agreed. Just observing the fickle nature of football fans. Was decent both West Ham games and City too.

and yet utter tosh vs newcastle, hull, krasnodar, every other senior performance...

Fantastic last night, still let in two goals and saved one penalty. Let's temper the hype

Didn't you see the match then ? Or his saves that kept us in the game ?

Had the game of his life to get is to pens... Then made it so easy for them that it was pointless being there... A scare crow would have made it harder. Then just walks upto the ball and blasts it at the bar... You seen the westham keeper trying to put our guys off... Moving across his line .. Trying alsorts.... Joel just stood slightly of centre of the goal then laid down on the floor 1 second before the ball was kicked... Sh eye tu

Lucky he saved one penalty, though take nothing away from his game

He did well last night, made some very good saves and looked better on crosses but there were three dodgy things he did:
a) the stupid floaty kick out to Baines by the corner flag, a needless risk that put us under real pressure
b) a quick throw out to Coleman that missed him by yards and sped off for a throw-in
c) the shot cum cross he fumbled away onto Carroll's arm, thankfully a handball was given (rather luckily)

7.5/10, did well enough but no reason to be getting carried away.

To be honest, that's not hard at the moment. Even Paul Gerrard would challenge that.

I think we have been spoiled with the likes of Southall and Martyn, the bar is set very high with the mature fan. Still fears me with dread at the moment Robles, but he done well in the game.
He just needs to know the defence have confidence in him. He commands the box better than Howard...or at least is willing to.

I was one of his biggest critics and when he played I dreaded it expecting a blob. I will give the lad his due he is beginning to prove me wrong. Whilst I am still waiting for him to make a mistake he seems to be playing with a lot of confidence and assuredness and that must be down to the coaching staff and manager. If he keeps this up he can quite rightly claim the No 1 spot as I think Howard is past his sell by date.

Robles could be a reliable No. 2 but I think he lacks a certain thing to become a proper No. 1 for Everton! So i´m still convinced that our Goalkeepers should be:

1 Marshall
2 Robles

Well at least he saved one. Noones saying hes Neville Southall but cut the fella a bit of slack ...played out of his skin in the 90.

Well he would have won them over a bit with the performance last night. I have noticed some players are quick to criticise him, Stones on Saturday and Coleman last night.

Robles is a very young goalkeeper and he has the attributes to be a good number one intact I'd rather he kept his place now because I think with time and games he will be really good.

His performance against west ham was better than any of Howard's and his saves kept us in the game.

A new goalie would be nice but I'm fine with him being our number one
