Everton's goal-keeping coach, Inaki Bergara, might look like Neil Ruddock after a two day bender but he certainly puts Robles through his paces in the pre-match warm up. I always used to think that Chris Woods was too relaxed allowing Tim Howard to do what ever he wanted without ever being stretched.

Watched the shoot out.... I hated him before... And I hate him more now... Watching football isn't enjoyable at the moment . Another set peice. Over it !

Been fantastic since he came in, amazing what games and confidence can do for a keeper.

The lad certainly deserves a run in the team ahead of Howard.

current form - definitely. Although we should probably buy a new number one, as Robles concedes at least a goal a game
Not really his fault though. The defence has been all over the place the past month. Give him a run of games with a settled defence and we'll start to concede less

I'm not a fan of the equivalent of Titus Bramble in goal, but he had a good game yesterday. Hopefully he can keep up it up, but that image of the Krasnodor goal will take quite a while to etch from the memory but he is going the right way which is a positive.

Robles was different class last night, pulled off some big saves that kept us in the game! Looked good at crosses too. He's a big lad but I'd like to see him bulk up a bit to give him even more presence. He's still young so he's obviously going to make mistakes, great potential though!

Ah this total and utter myth once again,

Joel played 7 games (at least 2 as a sub) for Spains age group sides in his whole life

De Gea played 63 games

De Gea was also playing for the Athletico 1st before Joel (who was never 1st choice there) depsite being an age group younger
De Gea is one of the top 3 goal keepers in the world. It's like comparing Barkley to Messi.

When you think back to all the dud number 2's (no laughing please) we've had, its quite frightening.

Stefan Wessels. Sander Vesterveld. Carlo Nash. Marcus Hanemann. Espen Baardsen. Richard Wright. Ian Turner. John Ruddy.

Scarey innit? No wonder Howard has been getting lazy. No pressure from the bench. And no wonder all these lads generally performed poorly. None ever got a decent run. You could see the confidence building in Robles as the game progressed last night.
