One thing that stood out last night was his athleticism which has never been a strong point of TH.

I feel he has earnt his place for the rest of the season. At best it will confirm him as our number one for next season. If not up to scratch we are no worse off as we need to recruit a new goalkeeper anyway in the summer.

Why can't Everton players just be, you know, okay at football, instead of either being GASH LAD or WORLD CLASS LAD.

He's got some good attributes and some bad ones, he had a good game yesterday but he's been a bit dodgy when he's played in others. Stop trying to be the better fan lads.

Dramatic improvement now he has a run in the side so I am made up for him. Made some excellent saves last night. To be a bit harsh though if we go to pens in the EL and he goes so early to ground again I would be well upset.

Nevertheless, I've still seen him play worse more times than I have seen him play well, including some pretty glaring errors last year.

Southampton at home last year... Arsenal in the cup... Krasnador at home... plus a few examples when he first replaced Tim this season.
You see the problem I have with that is that he didn't actually make any errors in those games except Krasnador of course. He was just a continental keeper that punches rather than catches which kept putting our defence under pressure and driving us mad. In the last few games he hasn't been doing that. It's obvious it's something he has been working on since last season.

To be fair you are right, I do not 'know' he will be great. However, I do have fair reservations as I would contest that he's been 'awesome'.

Do not get me wrong, he has improved as of late as I mentioned in an earlier post which is obviously a positive.

Last night's performance is a testament to that: apart from looking relatively unprepared for the penalties, he was good throughout the game.

I know goalkeepers rely heavily on confidence (an ex-keeper myself), and with experience he'll improve, but I don't think I've seen enough yet.

Competent keeper somewhere? Definitely! Competent back up for us? Yes, I'd go for that (in short term at least). Number one? I'm unconvinced.

Hopefully I am proved wrong; I'm man enough to happily eat humble pie if he does turn out to be great. Still, I'm not too optimistic.
As an exkeeper though isn't having a run of games to get match sharp an important part of being able to perform well?

All of those games you mentioned were weeks apart, think up until this recent run the most games he had played back to back was two or three.
