Joel Robles

If he was in goal against City we would have been beat comprehensively.

He got lucky that he was in against a toothless West Ham. Chelsea will be a different kettle of fish and I'm glad Koeman has come out straight away to say Steklenburg will be back in goal.

I feel reassured.
Still think your being harsh. You can only beat what is in front of you and he made a key save when the score was 1-0. With your reckoning stek was lucky to be in goal against Sunderland when we spanked them as he didn't have anything to do at all in that game.

Think people have gone over the top in relation to Robles replacing stek. Don't get me wrong I thought he well today, but apart from burnley's first goal last week he has barely put a foot wrong this season. He is very much in credit for his performances so far this season. If he makes mistakes like the burnley one in future games he deserves to be omitted, but not now. What is pleasing though is that Robles looked more confident and assured than last season and is obviously providing competition for stek in training.

I'm the exact opposite, I think people have over stated Steks performances based on some good shot stopping but there's a lot more to Gk than that.

For example, you say he hardly put a foot wrong prior to City but I disagree. For all his good saves vs City he was actually at fault for the goal that cost us the game due to his reluctance to come off his line for a simple cross he should have took. This has been a reoccurring problem all season.

They both have strengths and weaknesses that negate each other. Robles is a very aggressive cat that dominates his box and comes for most things as well as decent with his feet and great in 1 on 1s but a poor shot stopper. Steks a great shot stopper, decent with his feet but doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body and hugs his line.

Both are decent number 2s IMO, neither are number 1s fur a team with aspirations like us st the moment.

I agree to a point I see them both as number 2s. But up til the Bournemouth first half we'd barely conceded any chances let alone goals. To criticise him for city's goal is wrong Williams should have been picking up nolito. You wouldn't think the way we are all discussing the goalkeeping situation that we had the 2nd best defence in the league would you;)

If you offered Joel to every manager in the Premier league who would want him? Seriously which first choice keepr is he better than? At a strecth Boruc. No one would take him he just isnt premiership quality.

Yeah but you can say that about Stekelenburg, the only thing that seperates them is one has picked up an injury the week after an awful game, and the other one has taken his chance with a clean sheet and a few decent saves.

I agree but there are people on here who think Joel is a hrd done by would-be Southall. He is not. He is a bang average championship level keeper who souldnt be naywhere near our first team.

Great save from Noble's effort. He is clearly improving because if he was shoddy, after such a long spell out of the team, he would not have been so solid. He would have been shaky and he wasn't.

I'll have to respectfully disagree Joey

I like Robles, but Stekky has had some great performances and is most certainly our #1 in my opinion

Stekky's performance against City was one of the better goalkeeping displays seen at Everton in nearly a decade. I don't see how you can drop him after that. He'd have to have a number of bad games first before I'd entertain the notion
stekky ? Reported this

Good reaction but seemed a bit too far out of the net on that save on Noble, was way at the edge of the 6-yard box when he reached it.
