Joel Robles

At the start of the season I favoured Stek to be number 1. But the stats don't lie.

I'm excluding the Liverpool game because of the substitution.
Joel - P5 - conceded 2, 4 clean sheets.
Stek - P15 - conceded 20, 2 clean sheets.

Twice Joel had came in for Howard done well and then dropped when he returned from injury, if he gets dropped again I wouldn't blame him for leaving because he's been hands down better than Howard and Stek since arriving.
I get that we need a better keeper but he should be number 1 in the meanwhile.

My Opinion; if Stek plays yesterday Sterling gets his penalty [would have come careering out and toppled him] and/or Silva slots as he would have been to slow to narrow the angle; opinions and small margins...

I think we should give him next season as number 1. He has never really been given a sufficient run to gain the assuredness and confidence to demonstrate how good he can be. He must have something as when he gets a run in the team we all start saying he should keep his place. I would like to see how he could develop. If it starts from now it would be the perfect time ad we are in a transitional period

he must have been watching another game the save from Silva was exceptional and at a crucial time.
Plus his accurate ball distribution had their center backs in all sorts of trouble.

One thing I did notice yesterday was he had one moment where he could of easily of picked the ball up, City where in our area, but he went for the long pass to Lukaku, it didnt come off like his assist to Lukaku did a few weeks ago, but it was good quick thinking.

planned move? he seems very accurate with that ball

He is still relatively young isn't he? I still think there is a good keeper buried in there and if he is young he is definitely worth perservering with. As one of the earlier posters said he confidence and his game go,up quite a lot once he has been in goal for three or four games on the bounce!

Joel did well, came off his line at speed when needed and probably gave the defence a bit of confidence. The whole team did well, just goes to show what can be achieved when they try......

Stek was very good initially but he isn't now, his clean sheet/game-ratio is very bad. It's worse than the keepers in the clubs fighting for survival I think.

It's no fluke we're keeping clean sheets with Joel instead of Stek, keep Joel in goal.
