Joel Robles

Can't argue the fact he's done well and fully deserves the number 1 spot. I still hope and expect we will sign a top quality keeper in the summer though.

Like who?
The ones who are a step up to Robles are the likes of DDG, Lloris.
Who is realistically going to come and be top quality and miles better?

It's one of them Jinks, look at that Leicester game on Boxing Day. He was like Lev Yashin when balls come into his box. He plucked every cross with dominance and a swagger but he hasn't done that since.

Too many times I find myself going "Catch it, Catch it" and he half punches it away.

I'd just give him the rest of the season anyway, he's better than Stek and we know what we have in him. Give Joel the gloves till the end and see what happens.

He's at least good enough to keep around for another season if we go big on a Pickford in the Summer.
Hmm not sure I agree mate. Palace he was class at coming off his line to catch the ball, and he done it when he could today.

Today was difficult, was very windy and difficult to judge the flight of the ball.

Think commanding the box is one of his better traits, something he is growing in to.

He is still improving, and like you say has some improving to do.. But he gets better every game, so I think he is on the right track.

Like I said earlier, the main thing top keepers do is keep you in games consistently with their saves. Since Joel has come in he's done that, can't ask for much more.

Was very good tonight. Made some last ditch saves to keep us in the game and commanded his box fairly well against a big Stoke side. Easily first choice for the foreseeable future.

Neville Southall made his share of mistakes in his early days, goalies do. If there is potential there they need to be given the opportunity to realise it. This season is a non event for us now, show some confidence in the lad, tell him he is number one till May, at the very least, perhaps he can save us some money this summer.

By the way unless you're signing a neuer level keeper they aren't really going to be much of an improvement on Joel if he continues like this anyway.

I think some people will just never get over the fact he was very shakey and not confident when he played in his first season.

They forget he was only young back then, still is now for a keeper.
