Goalkeepers are a strange breed, sometimes they just seem to emerge from the shadows, one minute you think they're bang average the next they're suddenly world beaters. Big Nev just seemed to turn up one day, it never struck me as a gradual thing, he was suddenly brilliant and genuinely the best in the world. Maybe Joel can maintain this form and it could well be down to coaching but there seems to be a real confidence and belief now, good on him.

I did think that but at the same time the goal wasn't his fault.
To be honest I can't remember a goal against this season that he has been %100 resposible for, If you look at all the goal keepers in the league I bet there ain't many that haven't had a conceded goal down to a individual mistake they have made.
What could he have done for the second goal that would have made a difference.
The fault was all down to Lookman who didn't cover the runner. There was nothing the keeper could do.
I must say that I thought Lookman was extremely honest, admitted the mistake and said he would learn from it.... a great attitude.

He was not totally to blame lookman lost his man,but Joel should have gone for the ball with his body and arms not his leg.
Love his passion
This. Made me think why he went with his foot rather than diving out with arms. He is getting so much better especially coming off his line quickly and he is beginning to dominate crosses in his area. Very much improved and No.1 in my eyes.

He's not terrible and he seems to lose it when he lets one past him. I like a keeper who is utterly disgusted to be beaten.

There was an article on the Sky Sports website yesterday ranking premier goalkeepers. Wasn't sure how it worked or who was doing the ranking, but Joel was down at number 25, with loads of second string ahead of him. Obviously the people compiling this list haven't been watching football matches this season.
Give him a chance till the end of the season. If he keeps performing like he has since he took over from Stekelenburg and keeps on learning and improving than there's no way we should look for a new no 1.
I'm definitely warming to Joel. Him being a complete nutcase in both celebration and anger certainly helps his case with me.
