I like him.

But he was bad on Saturday for the goals.

What he did for the first and third goals reminded me of a defender who had to go in goal when the regular keeper got sent off and we'd used all our subs.

The first one i know what he was doing, you follow the ball across the goal and when he lost sight of the ball he lost his position : poor.

But the third one, i have absolutely no idea what he was doing, no way should any professional goalkeeper do that, it's like the aforementioned defender turned emergency goalkeeper had heard about how keepers should come out and narrow the angle so thought he'd run out and do that. Which was completly wrong.

It's not the first time he's made weird positioing errors. Shame, cause in the main he's done very well this season since coming into the team. But as a keeper unfortunately it doesn't matter if you pull of 10 world class saves in a match when you make a mistake and it costs your team the game.

There has to be some reason why he makes those weird positioning errors, remember the Krasnodar game? He's got enough experience now where it shouldn't be happening as often as it does.

That third goal is one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen a Premier League keeper do.

Can any keeper on here explain what he was thinking? It looked to me like the pressure was getting to him and he was desperate to make a big save so just guessed. And obviously got it wrong.

Timmys star jumps and eyes shut and not coming for a cross were more spectacular - chelsea away 2-0 up and he ran so far out missed costa and the defender total bottler and we put up with that for two seasons!

Seriously any chance of staying on topic.

This is the Joel thread

Very similar to the Krasnodar goal at home where he inexplicably just guesses and moves in an unnatural manner.

Couple that with him coming too far off his line to narrow the angle (like he did for all 3 goals) and it just looks incredibly bizarre.

Capable of truly outstanding saves, then makes some howlers. The problem is, what keepers are great shot stoppers, commanding and consistent? Only a few and they are at top clubs already.

I dont think Joel is the answer, but he is relatively young for a keeper and will get better with age.
