From my view the penalty was nothing short of an unnecessary calamity as Vokes (sure it was him) was going away from goal at a poor angle.
I'm expecting MOTD to confirm this. Shame really as I've always been an advocate of Joel but recently he's had a fair few dodgy performances.

It was a turn of phrase, we are competing for a top six position, a mistake like today against better opposition could cost us dearly. At this level we cannot afford weaknesses.
Joel has had a good run in the team and hopefully he has done enough to get himself a place on a premier league team but I don't think he is good enough for us.

Robles is a great keeper when he has to react instantly, but when he's given time to think about what's about to come he usually fs up

We're not conceding goal in spite of our terribly gash keeper and center backs.
At least that's the way it reads on here.
I think we tend to over scrutinize our players...especially our keepers.
Every keeper has a howler in them. I watched Sunderland play someone recently and Pickford would have been torn to shreds on here if he were our keeper.

He's not good enough for a side with ambitions to challenge the top 4, simple as. His communication is awful and his decision making is often poor, as it was today for that shambles of a penalty
I agree we do over scrutinize our players.. but that being said he's not a great goal keeper... certainly not one if we have European and champions league ambitions. And I think that's the point really.
I actually don't think our defence has been awful... yes Robles has had some decent games but not enough for me to think he should be our number 1 next season.

Not a top 4 keeper. But quite a few of our outfield players can be put in the same bracket. But still very happy with him this season overall. Has done well and pulled off some great saves and performances. Not quite there for top 4 champs league yet. He does have a mistake in him but he is prob in the top 10 keepers in the league alright.
If we lose Lukaku and Ross debating Robles is immaterial when someone identifies a keeper worth the money better than him - a howler today I admit - Pickford will cost but maybe the best gamble or some keeper we have not heard of as the named ones will eat our budget as we need 6 outfield players!
Our defence is not top four either shocking today as was Robles - only Holgate had any pace and a very good game!

That is true.
We could have Neuer in nets next season some still wouldn't be happy.
Having said that. I don't mind a keeper making mistakes. They all do. What I do mind is the absolutely mental weird things our last 3 keepers seem to do.
I just want a normal keeper!
