Joel Robles

But everyone thinks that neither are good enough mate. Literally everybody is expecting Stekelenburg to make a mistake sooner or later. And a fair few would be expecting Robles to if and when he comes back in.

What's the point in petty online point scoring when the fact is they're both crap?

That's the crux of it really isn't it, haven't seen one person who thinks that Stek is good enough. Nobody claims him to be the second coming the way Joel has been built up in here.

Both crap and we must do better

Who's your pick Joey?

It's hard to judge a goalkeeper without watching them consistently for 90 mins but people with a far better knowledge of goalkeeping than I will ever have think Pickford is the real deal and have done for a few years.

The german Monsters like Leno & Horn have looked good but so did Karius over there.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised with Robles this season. But, then again, I didn't expect much from him. I think he'd be perfectly fine for a low-to-mid-table team. I wouldn't mind him as the back up next season over Stek but I'm sure at Robles's age he would rather go someplace where he can be the #1.

Yes he cuyme cheap he turned us down in his big money move chose Leeds over us he was a cheap buy worth the risk proved to be vfm can't say how much Leicester will want - it won't be cheap?

We've got to start paying the going rate for the best to shake off our nearly man mentality, Robles I feel has earned the right to stay but not as our No.1 keeper we need to bring in better class and if that means paying big money then so be it.

Agreed. Robles is a decent keeper, nothing more. Just look at how city have struggled this season, with arguably the best attacking players in the league, because they haven't got a good keeper. To progress to the next level, we need to have a better calibre of keeper. Come the summer I'm sure we will.

My only worry with Pickford is his height, 6'1" isn't big for a keeper. Having said that Lloris is 6'2" and is fantastic.
Eh 6'1" is a fine height for a keeper. We have two massive keepers right now and neither are very good. Casillas, Ter Stegen, Navas, Lloris, are all between 6'0" or 6'2". I don't get the infatuation with Pickford, but to be fair, Sunderland would make any keeper look both brilliant from a saves standpoint and crap from a goals against standpoint.

Best Everton keeper (Martyn) I've seen after southall in my lifetime.

Martyn was chronically underrated as a player during his career and even still now. Many have forgotten just how good he was, even at the age we signed him. He was literally the only reason we survived in 03/04 and was equally a huge factor in us finishing 4th the season after.

Had we signed him years earlier like we should have they'd have been far more top half finishes in the 90s and early 2000s, I'm absolutely convinced of that.

Neville Southall was 6'1, Stek is 6'6. I know who'd rather have had.

Height can be an advantage of course, but ultimately a keeper's positioning is more important. I just want a boss keeper, whether they're 6ft or 7ft.
