John Stones Is A Rolls Royce But…

After their best efforts, our dinosaur set of fans failed to destroy barkley or rom, they moved onto stones now, that tony hibbert though, what a great servant, thats what top level football is all about, how about piping down and letting top youngsters develop, like gerry, ross and rom, just 3 quality youngsters who these clueless mutants slated
Ordinarily I'd agree with that mate. There is that self destruct tendency amongst our fans with young star players. But in the case of Stones I've been amazed at how much slack he's been given. I cant remember another player who's ever put in a transfer request, had it knocked back and was then welcomed back into the fold and treated like a Prince. This lad has been blessed with the support he's received. To be honest, I dont think the verbal attack was personally about him, it was more a general level of anxiety that a team that'd fought hard all game not to suffer any more late goals through sloppy play and lack of focus didn't deserve to walk away with nothing. I think that was the overall emotion and it could have been any Everton player trying that who would have got the stick. 87th minute of the game doing pirouettes with a Spurs player checking every twist and turn: no wonder something gave way in the crowd.

I just don't see it as a "turning on the fans" ... he just told them to calm down.

If telling people to calm down because they are overreacting about nothing is a problem then how am I ever going to talk to a woman ever again?
He could have dealt with it a lot more diplomatically. Turning round and laughing a bit would have done it: as if to say 'dont worry I had this'. Just disarm the tension a little. Job done. A Scouser would have. It's probably because he's a woolly back he didn't. :coffee:

Did he Dave, don't remember he actually made a request.

I didn't really understand the panic on Sunday. He was in total control and Son was never getting the ball off him. If anything, the rest of the lemons just standing and watching him needed shouting at (the movement of this team is consistently woeful).

you are talking through your armpit Dave.

I hope there is an end game with all this nonsense you spout about Stones
I have no agenda against him, He's a crucial part of the way we play. I just dont get taken in by all the talk of how he's one of the best centre backs in Europe when he cant turn up in his own area enough to deal with tuppence ha'penny crosses. He has a lot of growing to do if he's to be the CB many argue him to be. I've always maintained he doesn't have the armoury for it.

I think it was his agent who pushed it through, I think he took advantage of the situation and also Stones naivety.
I remember afterwards RM saying he needs protecting, and I think that was a pop at the agents poor handling of the situation

Well can you please aim your digs at the posters getting over the top, rather than the player by posting stuff made up off the top of your head to criticise an excellent young player?

Heads not in it, and doesn't fancy it.... you are pulling that out of your you know what. Comments like that belong in the Body Language thread....once @Prevenger17 creates it.

I think He has the potential to be one of the best CB in Europe, he has 90% of what is needed
He will learn from mistakes, sadly them mistakes he makes will be whilst playing for us.
We will hand I believe Barcelona the most accomplished CB to come out of the UK

Let's not kid ourselves though he isn't yet the finished article....but he will be
