John Stones transfer saga

Question being asked on Sky, will the Spurs game be John Stones last game for Everton ?

They're grade A idiots they really are, this morning they said "And we'll be speaking to Roberto Martinez about the future of John Stones", like they had some sort of exclusive, it was the presser for the weekend game of football that they seem to have forgotten we have.

'And to make matters worse for the 21-year-old, The Sun claim he has been targeted by disgruntled Everton supports at his home in Widnes, Cheshire.'

.........a large representation of fans on GOT, interesting if anybody on here felt bad enough to go to the lads house.

Dominic King has used the same thing in his headline today for the Mail.

Doesn't saying anything about it in the article itself, but hey, its a good title innit?

We should ban every journo from the club. Not one of em have stuck up for us and are pandering to the "nasty Everton" story they want to make up.

It's doing my head in.

Tell you what, how tedious must it be for Martinez to be asked over and over the same garbage questions phrased marginally differently everytime about Stones.

Jesus wept.
He should literally walk out at the beginning of his next conference and say 'he's not for sale, can we talk about something else this time please?' But yknow with more phenomenals and stuff

Peter Reid just had a brief comment by phone on TS. Emphasised the problems and dangers of keeping an unhappy player. Said he was saying it with a heavy heart but the obvious tone was he thinks players have all the power these days so if one wants to go just let them.

But would chelsea let hazard go to city, would man u let one of the best players go to Chelsea. The worry is will stones sulk till Jan then it will start again and again until Chelsea pull the dogs of us. Martinez is not Reid who is trying to build a side to win stuff, the only way he can do that is keep his best players, where would we be if we has kept Rooney

£40m would have got him a month ago - if they had bid that straight up instead of belittling the club with stupid offers and that initial arsey Mourinho press conference, this would have been done and dusted.

But what they've done, combined with the sickening orchestrated media campaign, has hurt their own cause.

They are basically spoilt little rich kids used to getting everything they want and came up against something that for the first time genuinely wasn't for sale, and it was mostly due to their antics.

Rather ironic that it's Sky TV money that is probably allowing us to play hard ball

Yes, I got to about 12 mins thinking it wasn't going well.

"If this happened 4 weeks ago would it be a problem?"..."No"

I think that answer contradicted his point about damaging the side that's being built. The point he made at the end.

Having said that, wanting to build a truly competitive & challenging side is what it's all about for me, and he made that point well.

But I think that is the crucial point......four, or more likely six, weeks ago and it wouldn't have been a problem.

The debate on here would have probably been in favour of taking the dough and going into the market with the money and buying players while we still had time.

Ped's whole point was more about the hysterical media reaction to us refusing an 11th hour transfer request after a campaign of intimidation waged in the print and electronic media which is without precedent in my many decades of following football.

His very first remark was to say about The Sun having to retract a lie they were running with about John having to "flee" his home in Widnes because of incensed Everton fans.

Ped was blooming brilliant in setting them straight, Rat ;)
