John Stones transfer saga

Stones has moved into a hotel to get away from the media and hype, another disgraceful lie being soaked up by Chelsea fans claiming we have no class. i do wonder what is going through Stones head right now though, is his next step to withdraw his request or start sulking?
really think he is better just thinking about his next game and not feeling he has to make a statement at the moment. he looked edgy and tense on wednesday but that was the first time and how many things were going on. stay away from the radio and the papers and train hard. he will be fine and have a great season I reckon. Then we will see

what doesn't help is that there is very little in the way of big story transfers this summer. Sterling happened early and whilst plenty of money has been spent there hasn't been that big news story for the Media to grab on to.... certainly not with their beloved Sky 4. Right now this is the biggest story going and they are milking it for all its worth from every angle. They don't care about us or John Stones! Chances are they don't really care if Chelsea don't get their man they just want the story to drag on and on and if on Tuesday he goes they can publish the "we told you so" story and if he stays they get a few months bile out of it before they start posting headlines "Chelsea to return for Stones in January"

It's all about click bait now.....To many of these papers would prefer to be first and false rather than second and true

I was thinking that this relentless clickbait nonsense is something we can effect. I noticed one of the guys who run the site put up a nonsense story and made the point of saying don't click on it. Surely if every major forum did a similar thing then it would hit them pretty hard. I don't know enough about how many people click through from various sites. assume Twitter and facebook dwarf most others but its a start and maybe people can follow suit on other social media

Have to say mate I disagree.

He saved himself in the last couple of minutes from losing the argument really. That's why we can't sell Stones.

No worries, kith.....we can all look at things from a different point of view :)

Am I right in thinking you are in God's Own Oz?

Or in NZ?

If so you likely wouldn't be familiar with Cundy's usual style of head melt broadcasting where he badgers his callers and tries to shout them down.

Usually they become flustered and he sneers at them.

It was a tactic which clearly failed with Ped last night and it was very noticeable to me that the other bloke took the lead interview role about halfway through after Cundy's jibe of Ped being "bitter" was hung around his neck.

The other bloke, I don't think it was Goldstein last night, seemed to come round to Ped's way of thinking and invited him to come back on the programme Tuesday night after thus darned window closes.

It's all good, pal ;)

just saw this..... this really is getting beyond a joke now

Tell you what, how tedious must it be for Martinez to be asked over and over the same garbage questions phrased marginally differently everytime about Stones.

Jesus wept.

Yes, its about time the window is closed after the first game for me at the the latest. It's a disgrace that Martinez got to keep repeating himself.

Peter Reid just had a brief comment by phone on TS. Emphasised the problems and dangers of keeping an unhappy player. Said he was saying it with a heavy heart but the obvious tone was he thinks players have all the power these days so if one wants to go just let them.

You know what? 40 million is a lot of money and I am almost tempted to say that maybe we should have sold him.
But Either way I am happy!

Chelsea are mad offering forty million for him.

We are crazy for turning it down.

If Chelsea had offered that money six weeks ago when this all started Roberto would have driven John down to the Bridge himself with the blessing of most of us.

But they didn't.

They made a derisory offer then proceeded to orchestrate a media campaign aimed at unsettling Stones and belittling our club, aided and abetted it seems, by John's agent.

So it became about much more than money.

It became about the standing of our club.

It became about letting the avaricious parasites who represent the rest of our young stars know that they will not be allowed to derail our manager's five year plan.

It became a point of principle and about wether EFC would meekly consent to bury our own ambitions and become a nursery club for two no mark, yo yo clubs which won the lottery.

Divil the bit.

Sod off and stick your filthy lucre where the sun don't shine, Jose.

Then there is the small matter of a transfer window closing in a few days and us being bereft of experienced centre backs.

In the end the temptation was easy to resist for Evertonians.....;)
