John Stones transfer saga

Glad Stones is staying, the knock on effects of him leaving would have been brutal. Just for the record, 38M was a fair and reasonable offer.
Onwards and upwards.

I have just heard Mourinho asked if he would be putting another bid in for Stones, to which he replied, "I don't speak about players from other teams"

What a zoomer!

Hopefully after yesterday statements and talks with the manager Stone's can see just how important he is to us and how highly we regard him.
Unfortunately, I think events may have changed the time Stones has left here at Everton fundamentally. How could it not? The gilt looks a bit tarnished now. He's been leading a charmed life thus far in terms of having to shoulder any of the blame for defensive errors. He's an elegant player and if he continues to play in that manner he'll have his suitors outside Everton. I just think that he's damaged goods now with a domestic audience. The spell has been broken and he'd have to improve ten fold defensively to keep fans off his back. The transfer request will always be at the back of their minds and it'll work its way to the front if Stones is making obvious goal conceding mistakes.

ok hadn't heard of them but read through them now and these cases seem fairly straightforward, compensation was relatively easy to work out and yet it still led to him being charged with breaking his contract. It a major player tried to use it then it would change the game in a way we probably haven't seen before. How would we value Stones in terms of compensation and what kind of ban would he recieve for breaking a contract? But still any player just walking out because another club has come in for them would make any club reluctant to offer any player a contract that was little more than pay to play. Again, won't happen. And certainly not something Stones would be even taking a look at

as if this has even happened

in the sun newspaper of all papers

they are doing everything to get him to move to chelsea.
So where are the police quotes about being called to an 'incident' in Widnes???
This has been manufactured by the agent to the press to desperately still try and force through his big pay day. Got one last year for his FIVE YEAR ( not one ) DEAL and now still wants another payday. Where simply is the evidence? Lies reported ( surprise surprise ) by the Sun. He prob moved out to avoid the press door stepping him - but the media would never report that would they?

All fans are very fikcle. Liverpool fans for example burnnig Gerrard's shirt outside the ground and then conveniently forgetting he wanted to leave when he stayed and played well for them. Same with Suarez wanting to go to Arsenal. It's not just Liverpool fans either. If a player plays well enough then it appears as though they are forgiven for most things.

I think most of our fans will accept that he's young and got advised badly but also that moving to the champions. getting salary pretty much trebled etc was a decent opportunity - even more so if he keeps putting in good performances
