John Stones transfer saga

I have no idea why you guys are pretending there's a media campaign against you. There are a few idiots in the press yeah, but from what I've seen the media have been largely supportive of Everton. A few murmurs of English players being overpriced but from what I've seen the response has been largely positive. Alot of ex-pros think Stones would be better served being nurtured at Everton & possibly making a move a few years down the line while others have seen this saga (and Berahino) as a huge victory for the competitiveness & parity of the League especially after watching Southampton pillaged over these past couple of years. Think some of you are mistaking the media beating a story to absolute death for clicks (see the entire Carneiro fiasco) with supposed hatred.

My only gripe with Martinez is he comes across as hypocritical with his subtle digs & rants but when you're owned by a Russian billionaire & managed by one of the most hated coaches in football history there's (rightfully) not going to be hardly any sympathy on your end of the spectrum. It's a shame this saga has tarnished what's left of the mutual respect both clubs have with one another but Mourinho's sharp, confrontational & fiery demeanor has a tendency to result in burnt bridges.

Again, kudos to Kenwright, not the most popular 'round these parts but he's managed to keep hold of your very best players (Barkley, Stones, Rom, Coleman & Baines)

There is no media campaign against Everton per se. But there has been a campaign by your manager, conducted through the media, to unsettle the player and get him to force through a transfer so that Chelsea could get him on the cheap. As Mourinho, in conjunction with Terry and others, used the media to do this, it has resulted in a some Evertonians drawing the conclusion that there is a media campaign against us.

Perhaps if Chelsea, as one of the richest clubs in the PL, had come up with a proper offer 6 weeks ago and Mourinho hadn't adopted such underhand tactics in order to secure the player the outcome to this saga might have been different. As it is, Mourinho got exactly what he deserved, and the media who adore his every word are seen by the supporters of this club as having been vanquished.

Agree, Lukaku's loan/purchase wasone of those instances where it suited all parties - you got a good price for a player that didn't fit in with your managers plans, we got an excellent (if variable) striker that we desperately needed and Rom got the playing time he craved. Given your vast number of talented but inexperienced loan players think there could have been other opportunities for further mutually beneficial deals which looks unlikely going forward,

No idea whatsoever mate.

That photo does look like a lot of luggage for John for an overnight trip to Spurs. But presumably Jags/ Stones/Barkley are going straight onto the England camp after the spurs game rather than travelling all the way back home.

A hypocrite says one thing but does another, whereas Martinez has said one thing and done the same.

His quiet digs are likely to be those of a man who knows if he doesn't keep tight control of himself may just say far too much.

Just happens to be be spotted leaving a hotel & taking his bags from his car, on the same day Lukaku's on a train to London wearing the same track suit though.
