John Stones transfer saga

The S*n has used a photo of Stones coming out of Everton's team hotel in London and is pretending it is a hotel he's staying at 'in hiding' in the north west.

Absolute lying scumbags.

I have no idea why you guys are pretending there's a media campaign against you. There are a few idiots in the press yeah, but from what I've seen the media have been largely supportive of Everton. A few murmurs of English players being overpriced but from what I've seen the response has been largely positive. Alot of ex-pros think Stones would be better served being nurtured at Everton & possibly making a move a few years down the line while others have seen this saga (and Berahino) as a huge victory for the competitiveness & parity of the League especially after watching Southampton pillaged over these past couple of years. Think some of you are mistaking the media beating a story to absolute death for clicks (see the entire Carneiro fiasco) with supposed hatred.

My only gripe with Martinez is he comes across as hypocritical with his subtle digs & rants but when you're owned by a Russian billionaire & managed by one of the most hated coaches in football history there's (rightfully) not going to be hardly any sympathy on your end of the spectrum. It's a shame this saga has tarnished what's left of the mutual respect both clubs have with one another but Mourinho's sharp, confrontational & fiery demeanor has a tendency to result in burnt bridges.

Again, kudos to Kenwright, not the most popular 'round these parts but he's managed to keep hold of your very best players (Barkley, Stones, Rom, Coleman & Baines)

Welcome mate, good to read a considered post from a fan of another club. Not sure I agree with the first sentence but a good post nonetheless.

Feel free to go on Everton's NewsNow and tally up the amount of articles suggesting Stones needs to move / is definitely 100% for sure moving. Once you've done that, it'll be Sunday, because it'll take you an entire day to get through all of it, and you'll see one of the reasons why we don't believe the media particularly likes us.

Your gripe against Martinez has nothing on Jose "I'm not going to talk about Stones, he's another club's player but let me quickly say everything I want about him (while still not talking about him of course) and get both my centre backs to chat him up in TV interviews" Mourinho. Of course Martinez is going to make digs at him, with how Jose acts. At least he does it indirectly. If I was in his position I'd have said a lot worse.

Finally, you know absolutely nothing about Kenwright and the board, and the vicious circle of loans and debt they have got us into. Once the TV money hits its peak they'll "finally" find a buyer for the club, maximising their profit from its sale while having invested absolutely nothing in return.

Welcome, mate.

There are lots of weird things in the modern game but honestly how do these guys continue to earn money for this sort of comment? It is like listening to jasper carrott's nutter on the bus.
Just remember it is an American show for American audiences. Once you remember that, your fume levels will decrease.
It's the Venezuelan guy who keeps shouting that annoys me more.

I am glad I read beyond the first two sentences because I would have missed an otherwise excellent post ;)

We have had to put up with a barrage of bollox from way more than "a few idiots" in the media.

From Alan Shearer and Danny Murphy telling the nation John should leave on the opening MOTD of the season to Jason Cundy, a Chelsea employee I believe, berating John's agent for "letting him play at Barnsley" on talkSPORT the other night our proud old club has been insulted and demeaned beyond belief.

Now we have blatant lies being printed about his house being "attacked" in Widnes....a town in which he doesn't even live lol

Go figger.

And you know, hitherto most of us on here loved Jose and Chels for the way you popcorn the real evil empire in English football and Denba Ba will always be a legend round these parts ;)

And I am sure normal service will be resumed after Tuesday, then after September 12th when the dust settles.

Good luck for the season, after our next home game, natch  and don't be afraid to come a' calling at GOT again :)
