True, but if my son was to become a professional sportsman I'd make sure his agent was on a fixed remuneration - I don't understand why the clubs and the FA don't insist on this.

Don't get me wrong I think your proposal is a sound one, but turkeys don't vote for Christmas and all that.....it'll never change now.

On a practical point someone like Rooney would want his agent working on developing his income streams on a constant basis, a fixed fee system would mean he'd get the same level on input as some journeyman centre half playing at Stockport.

I think you can differentiate between commercial income streams and a player's income from his profession.
