John Stones transfer saga

john stones is brilliant, probably irreplaceable - but i think people are in cuckoo land by saying we wouldn't improve with his sale. i agree it's a statement of intent not to sell at any price, but if they come in with £60m - do people really want us to say no? you do realise taht can get you 3 or 4 top quality first team replacements.

i wouldn't sell atm, unless they offer something in that ball park - but martinez won't even have replacements in mind - it'd be too soon to plan it all - we're not liverpoo, thankfully and are not just going to chuck £20m at a defender and hope it works.

his price will rocket in the next couple of years - more top class teams will become aware and higher bids will come in. he's a confident professional lad, i don't think interest will affect him and i don't think he's the kind to push for a move.

I'd take £45m - but anything less than £40m and I'd be really annoyed, as we'd be selling him for less than his value for no reason.

The latest I have seen is a structured deal worth up to 34m. That means loads of strings starting off at the original 20m. What a load of ****.

We must keep him, if we have to sell in a year or two, he will be worth double that.

Plus Mourinho is a t wat, he is up to his dirty tricks. The truth is they are desperate to get Stones for a long term replacement for Terry, which is why they need him now so as to get rid of Terry next summer.

£60 million ??? Did someone say £60 million ???!!!!!

Yes. We DON'T want nor need to sell. As of yet, the lad has given no indication he's gonna force our hand.

Quite simply, if Chelski want him, then they're gonna have to make us an offer we can't refuse. We've just last season bought one young lad off them for £28 million. They didn't want that lad though. We want Stones.

The recent examples of LFC with the Suarez money and THFC with the Bale money are good indicators of the potential success of that method. If we forget the fact the salaries of 3-4 players might be too costly, there's still the strong evidence that significant staff changes paid for with one major sale rarely yield positive results.

I have two opinions on this. The first is that anything below £35m wouldn't benefit us at all once Barnsley get their ~£5m and we add the costs and salaries of the two CBs we'd need urgently. The second is that a fee that is worth our while, something north of £40m, is both highly unlikely and still leaves the problem of finding value in the market and bedding players in, both of which are notoriously difficult.

The wise decision for me is to reject all bids and get on with slowly building a good young squad rather than dismantling one.

Lukaku & Stones have nothing to do with each other, I don't get that at all.

Some of these value's ppl are throwing at Stones are absolutely daft.

The arrogance of Chelsea fans is so much that I'd love us to string them along all summer and leave them in the lurch. Problem with all the big clubs is, as though stockpiling all your best players isn't enough, they try and lowball you with ridiculous offers, the common line from their fans being 'why are Everton making this difficult, give them 20 mill and Moses on loan'. If we sell him I hope we absolutely milk them dry for an eye watering amount.
