John Stones transfer saga

I admire JM as a manager, and his popcorning of that lot is a constant source of fun on here.

But he is an egotistical bulb, and one backed by unlimited funds, almost. The result is a bully who feels he is invincible and untouchable. Quite an unattractive mixture. As we seem to be witnessing.

But he would rather pipe down on what he thinks are his terms, (made 2 bids, allegedly, both laughed at), he will not want to make another one, and be piped down again.

And he wont over pay, in his eyes.

I hope.

could we? United told Chelsea, both publicly and privately, that Rooney wasn't for sale at any price and Mourinho still continued to talk about him in the press and made an additional bid.

Chelsea tried to prise Rooney away from Old Trafford last summer, during his rift with United. They made successive and public bids of £20 million and £30 million to force the issue, and while United made it clear both publicly and privately that Rooney would not be sold, Chelsea’s interest remained undimmed. Now, with Fernando Torres approaching some sort of form, Mourinho appears to have admitted defeat.
Have agree with iggy LL. They ultimately didn't sign Rooney and I believe they knew they hadn't a hope of signing him either tbh. Bit like arsenal and their bid for Suarez that time. Everton need to stand firm here. Some things are more important than money. Just the way I see it

A couple things just don't sit right with me. The news of Chelsea's bid coming out right after Stones said he was happy at Everton. Also, and more pressingly Gary Cahill publicly advising Stones to join Chelsea. Cahill has the right to say whatever he wants but saying what he has publicly both puts pressure on Stones and disrespects Everton.

The sad thing is that there is technically nothing wrong with either of those things, so when Everton don't like it, it just serves to make us look like cry-arses. But the fact remains that Chelsea are using more than just negotiations with Everton in their attempt to sign Stones, and I think we've got a right to feel somewhat aggrieved.

I literally would say in the next press conference:

'Look Jose. WE ARE NOT LIVERPOOL. We're not selling and these games don't work when dealing with Everton'

TWO BIRDS. ONE (JOHN) STONE(S).

Believe me..if they were confident of getting him they would not be peddling Cahill out or have Jose crying like he is.
In my opinion.

I imagine any relationship with Chelsea is now soured hugely.

Don't forget there was that piece from Terry praising Stones. This has been a concerted try on from the start.

Couldnt care less. Any "relationship" is based, at least, on mutual respect. Not on, "you dont sell us an ace player on our terms and we wont loan you anyone".

Can go spin Chelsea for all I care.

Like I said this should be Martinez response:

'Look Jose. WE ARE NOT LIVERPOOL. We're not selling and these games don't work when dealing with Everton'

Chelsea’s José Mourinho swipes at Everton in John Stones transfer row
• Roberto Martínez in a ‘strange world’, says Chelsea manager
• Mourinho baffled by Everton reaction to Chelsea bid for defender

José Mourinho has taken a swipe at the Everton manager, Roberto Martínez, as the pursuit of John Stones continues to provoke anger on both sides.

Mourinho, suggesting Martínez is in a “strange world”, remains baffled as to whyhe has furiously accused Chelsea of acting inappropriately and why he made public the initial bid of £20m that was rejected by Everton.

Mourinho maintains the Premier League champions have dealt with the move for the 21-year-old, which could break the record for an English defender, in the correct manner and he will not relent in his pursuit.
