John Stones transfer saga

Why don't Everton just kill this by saying that John Stones is not for sale but recognise that it is recognised that every player has a price. It will take £65 million clear, breaking the British transfer record for us to even consider it and asking Chelsea to bid that amount or stop messing about.

Agreed.

Just name a price, any bid below that price will be instantly dismissed. Moving on...

An upgrade to replace John Stones are you taking the proverbial?
talking to you mkes me think i am going mad mate lol

Evans isnt the replacement to stones....he is back up to the first choice defenders, which will probably be van dijk and jags looking at the way things are going.

Fcking trying to unsettle stones with that stupid £25m bid,Everton need to man up and tell these cockney kunts to do one.

£25 million gets you nothing for your money these days. There's absolutely no player of the same quality you could bring in to replace him. I agree with the above, statement needs to be made that we won't enter negotiations unless a bit of £50 million + is made.

Guarantee the next bid or leak of bid will come on the eve of the season. Starting to think/hope we won't sell to Chelsea purely to spite them

Think the people who thought we could get £50m need to wake up.

£35m or so we'll do a deal, imo.

I think Chelsea will stop at 30m, any thing over that it will be Man Utd who get him. I just wish it was all over what ever he decides to do.

So at the moment we have 2 premier league ready CB's. One of which is odds on to leave and it's 10 days to the start of the season, where if we were to pay attention to the odds, we are going to have to develop a new pairing at the back, being thrown in at the deep end, no warm ups, what a mess our club is in.

This bid at least shows we haven't negotiated a price in private with Chelsea otherwise they wouldn't bother coming out with this they'd just pay or not. What it looks like is they've been told he's not for sale, or a number that is very high, so they're hoping to use public bids to mount up media pressure and hopefully turn Stones' head to force through a move. Looks as though if we stay strong we can keep hold of him as long as Stones doesn't kick off. If the board were 'just holding out for 30 mill' , there'd be absolutely no point to this bid apart from Chelsea being severely scumbaggish and chancing their arm despite knowing we'd fold at 5 mill more? Don't think so. I reckon the valuation is huge.

They could easily keep it quiet and between the two Clubs but they're making it public on purpose to attempt to turn his head.
