John Stones transfer saga

What credibility ? Don't make me laugh.

I'm more convinced than ever that our board are quite content with just being a premier league side. They're not bothered about honours and are only interested in making a few bob. When me and you and every other Evertonian get excited about young talent like Stones, Barkley, Lukaku and the others currently coming through, its a very different kind of excitement that tingle the bollocks of our board members. We get excited because we want to see us try and get to the next level on the field. They get excited because they see nothing but pound signs.

As long as Everton stay in this league, that's all they care about. Spending the bare minimum for us to achieve that is their ultimate priority. Other clubs in this league spend money to attempt to improve their standing in the league and improve upon their previous season. We only spend to replace what we let go, thus maintaining what we had, to just move sideways.

Stones WILL be sold within the next 12 months, no doubt about it. I'm guessing somewhere around 35m will see him gone and with that money we generate, half of it will be made available for his replacement and the rest will be sucked into Bill's black hole where nothing escapes.

Just like 10 years ago when we sitting on one of the best players to ever come through our academy and we as fans were dreaming of what could be and an Evertonian at that. Whilst we were all talking about how good this kid would become, building a team around him, finally watching one of our own taking the piss to, being proud and enjoying moments when as a 17 year old making his England debut, ripping a decent Turkey team to absolute shreds........Bill was making comments like ' Imagine what this kid will be worth to us '.

Perhaps this guy from the Daily Mail?

@CraigHope_DM: Told Chelsea won't go above £30m for John Stones after £25m bid rejected. EFC want more money plus a player, thought to be Victor Moses.

Putting 1 + 1 together and getting 30 million plus Victor Moses.

*shaking head here*

Actions speak louder than words: the real indicator that this lot aren't going to cave in and sell when the fee goes past £30M would be by going out and buying players we need desperately for the coming season. That sends out a message loud and clear that Martinez is not waiting on cash coming into the club in order to move and backs up the 'Stones is not for sale' line.

Chelsea and United know what these owners of Everton are like as much as we do. Carpet baggers who'll do all they can to avoid investing any revenue that comes into the club.

That's why we spent 28m on Lukaku?
How much did we spend in total last summer ? Lukaku was already playing for us, albeit on loan. So like i said, we spent the money to just move sideways, stay as is. We never spent the 28m to improve on our standing the previous season.

Daily Mail newsroom conversation:

"We need to make this seem credible. Quick, think of a Chelsea player that Martinez might want!"

"Victor Moses? Used to play for Wigan?"

"Ave it! That'll do nicely!"

if you are willing to criticise them for selling him then why arent you willing to give them credit for keeping him?
it feels too uncomfortable to give them some slack doesnt it? no offence mate.

How can I credit them with doing nothing, which is what not selling a player you already have entails?

BTW, I wouldn't criticise them for selling Stones. I'd criticise them for making his sale a prerequisite for transfer activity though.

Stones as far as I'm concerned: get it to £30M asap and do the deal. He's not irreplaceable - he's been part and parcel of a poor defensive record last season when all is said and done and nowhere near a complete player - and we can use the cash to strengthen.

We all know he'd take him in a heartbeat because he used to work with him though :(

Nabbed from Twitter.

Thought it was funny.

If Chelsea was a human being

I went to school with him. True story. He was an utter, utter, UTTER scumbag.

It's a good analogy.

I believe that if, IF, Stones goes it will be for abnormal money. Way more than what's being quoted. Which, if spent on the right players, could be a good thing for us. I'd rather keep him though. If Uncle Bill sells him for anything lower than 50m given the length of his contract and potential value I will be disconsolate.

Victor Moses, Victor sodding Moses... Dear Lord, how much more pathetic a deal could we possibly be linked with ?

The thing with this now is, if we keep him the board will say it is a huge triumph and completely forget that once again they have underinvested in this team. It'll keep the happy clappers at bay.

I hate the direction this club is heading in.
