At this point I'd like us just to come out and announce that he's not for sale - end of.
Have a feeling this isn't going to end well.

That's pointless as every player is for sale

We should just say 35M or [Poor language removed] off. As soon as they agree to 35M then just say 38M or no deal. I'll bloody LOVE if we get 35/38M for him.

Either release a public statement saying the player isn't for sale at any price this summer and that the club won't consider any offers, or tell Chelsea how much we really want for him. The quicker this is resolved the better.

Sadly think he will go.................... if he does.............. I hope above all hopes it is not to them after the way they have behaved. My puppy conducts itself in a better fashion than they have.
Selling Stones now would be idiotic. I think I couldn't back this board anymore.

Couldn't understand why they tried their press strategy in the first place given the previous relations between the two clubs

Chelsea have attempted to smooth their bid to sign John Stones by holding talks with Everton about how the two clubs can avoid any more mud-slinging over the central defender. Everton have rejected two bids for Stones, with a third expected to follow, and discussions are understood to have taken place between chairmen Bruce Buck and Bill Kenwright regarding Chelsea’s initially aggressive pursuit of the 21-year-old.

Buck’s influence could be key for Chelsea, as the American enjoys a good relationship with Kenwright that has previously helped to facilitate deals between the two clubs. It now remains to be seen whether Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will put his trust in Buck and adopt a more coy approach over his desire to sign Stones before the end of the transfer window.
Mourinho is due to speak to the press on Friday, ahead of Chelsea’s Community Shield clash against Arsenal, and will be asked both on and off camera about Stones.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez expressed his dismay that Chelsea’s first bid was made public, but his complaints were mocked by Mourinho, who confirmed that a second bid would be made. The Toffees were also surprised and upset by comments from Chelsea and England defender Gary Cahill, who urged Stones to join him at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea this week had a second bid for Stones of £26 million rejected, but the club refused to comment on the matter in what could have been the start of a shift in policy. Buck and Kenwright are keen to maintain a good working relationship through the Stones negotiations, with Chelsea still hoping to land the player. In recent years, Romelu Lukaku, Samuel Eto’o and Christian Atsu have moved between Chelsea and Everton in what has been a fruitful relationship for both clubs.

Despite Everton’s insistence that Stones is not for sale, it is believed a deal worth £34m should be enough to see an agreement be reached. The Goodison Park club are looking at a host of central defensive targets of their own, including Swansea City’s Ashley Williams and Manchester United’s Jonny Evans. Both Manchester United and Manchester City have a long-standing interest in Stones, but neither club has so far made a serious attempt to hijack Chelsea’s bid.

Chelsea can offer Stones a clear career path to succeed captain John Terry and have already demonstrated their faith in the youngster by making him their one big transfer target of the summer. Other than trying to strike a deal for Stones, Chelsea want to sign a new left-back, with Augsburg’s Baba Rahman the main target, and Mourinho has claimed the club will attempt to get a work permit for Brazilian Kenedy to play in England this season.

It really shouldn't matter whether Buck is best mates with Kenwright or not. The club have already said he's not for sale and have no intention of selling him.

This is just more Chelsea propaganda being leaked through the press to cause more disruption and to keep the 'story' alive and in the public eye. They're doing this in the hope that the constant coverage will pressure Stones into pushing for the move. So far he hasn't bitten.
