John Stones transfer saga

Great quote by Alvin Martin earlier on Talksport talking with the the most respected Adrian Durham "I suggest Chelsea pay Everton 3mil (what they paid for him) agree a fee of a further 25 mil to be paid at the end of the season.
Let him play the season out with Everton its a win win for all concerned".....what a fantastic piece of bullshit.

It probably had to happen eventually.
The juggernaut that is the premiership/SKY/media has lost sight completely of what football is all about.
Football now is about four or five clubs depending on if you want to include Liverpool or Spurs, nobody else counts or matters.

In the past a young Brian Clough, the original Mourinho, was able to take small English clubs Derby and Nottm. Forest and turn them into champions through brilliant management and brilliant transfer dealings.
That is impossible now. Vast amounts of money are now necessary to be a regular winner and the clubs that have this wealth are expected to buy and to be allowed to buy any player they want.

It does seem they cannot comprehend a player not being available for sale.
They simply believe that a price simply has not been agreed yet.
Ironically, the extra money in football is now allowing clubs to be more independent when dealing with these super rich spoiled brats.

Posters jumping up and down wanting our club to lay all its cards on the table have no clue the club would look incredibly stupid if they take such a firm line, and then end up selling him.

When you have such a good player on board, you want to do things right and bleating about it isn't the best thing.

Everyone has a price, and we will end up doing what Mr Stones wants to do.

Mr Stones will go if EFC want to sell him at the right price, the prices being offered are well below the market rate, so the club have rejected them ok!

I wouldn't like to see Stones go for any amount of love or money, he's growing into his role quite nicely at the moment and could be pivotal this season. But I really can't see us refusing an offer of £30m, unfortunately for us we can't turn down that cash. I'd love to see him stay!! Fingers & toes crossed!!

We'll refuse 40 million if the player doesn't request a move. We don't force out our best players.
Up to Stones.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The board don't force player sales. They issue a budget and the gaffer decides how that should be met.

Think it's laughable when people suggest the board are milking the club, and holding out for a £100 million profit; totally ignoring the fact that we could flog Stones, Jags, Baines, McCarthy, Lukaku and Coleman for about 125 million quid, overnight.

So we agree.
Stone's silence is a worry for me. I can't help but feel at some stage in August I will wake up (Australian time) and see a thread title in here "Stones requests to speak with/ move to Chelski".

Agree, really like Williams although don't think he'd move from Swansea. Evans on the other hand....:(

You just get the feeling it will be all downhill for Evans after he leaves OT.......just like John O'Shea and Wes Brown, he is a very ordinary player who somehow struck it lucky and has a shed load of medals.

I really hope we don't sign him.

If he forces a move, then so be it. In fact if we're gonna lose him, then I hope that's the way it will go down (obviously I'd rather we kept him) as it would waive his right to a loyalty bonus.

I'm not convinced he badly wants to leave. I can see it from each side:

Side A: He gets to play for the best manager in the world, gets more money, plays in the Champions League, competes for the title etc. Lets face it, with his ability, and the strength of Chelsea and Mourinho, he could well be looked upon as one of the great English players in 10-15 years time.

Side B: He's still learning. His style of play is exactly what Martinez wants. Can you imagine Jose forgiving him for overplaying it and costing Chelsea points in big games??? Think he'd be hung out to dry to be honest.

Anyway, if we do have to deal with them, I'd operate from a stance that Cahill would have to be involved in any deal.
