John Stones transfer saga

You just get the feeling it will be all downhill for Evans after he leaves OT.......just like John O'Shea and Wes Brown, he is a very ordinary player who somehow struck it lucky and has a shed load of medals.

I really hope we don't sign him.
Tbh my primary concern is that whatever you think of Evans talents on the pitch, he is rarely fit enough stay on it for a full game, week on week.

Over the past couple of seasons he's played less league minutes than Sturridge whose legs are made of cheese string (evans 2475 vs Sturridge 3019). For a defender that is awful reliability when one of the ley strengths of a backline is consistent playing time to build up an instinctive rapport :(

Anyhow that is probably off topic - John Stones is great and I hope we keep him even if it is just for a year.

He's not for sale.period

So we agree.
Stone's silence is a worry for me. I can't help but feel at some stage in August I will wake up (Australian time) and see a thread title in here "Stones requests to speak with/ move to Chelski".
Stones has nothing to gain by speaking up right now, and assuming his agent isn't completely worthless, he's probably told him as much.

Right now the papers are talking about Stones, which gets his name out there, improves his stock in the conversation for Euro 16, and will likely increase his valuation when clubs bid for him next season.

If Stones wanted a move, I believe he would have spoken up by now. The only reason he wouldn't is if he, like Sterling, wants his loyalty bonus and has faith that Chelsea will meet Everton's valuation. Given that we only have one other senior centre half at the club, it would be a huge gamble for Stones to assume we're willing to sell. Mourinho's intention has obviously been to turn Stones' head, and in light of that I think we can only see Stones' silence as a positive.

Hi all. Longtime lurker, first time poster and sometime ITK here.
Just so happens now is one of those times as Stonesy tonight signed a One year extension on his contract giving him a huge pay rise and establishing a minumum release cause that would make even Abramovich stop and think.
That is all.
Welcome.

If you are really ITK then that is a hard to top first post!

I wouldn't like to see Stones go for any amount of love or money, he's growing into his role quite nicely at the moment and could be pivotal this season. But I really can't see us refusing an offer of £30m, unfortunately for us we can't turn down that cash. I'd love to see him stay!! Fingers & toes crossed!!
We can turn it down though. The club need to stand firm. Unfortunately I don't think they will at this stage. Hope I'm wrong

I don't think Stones wants to go and will be here for a good few years. But why would he want to go to Chelsea and have one of the biggest arse holes of all time, Terry, being your mentor. That is until he either gets a 'coaching' role or gets shown the door. If he is forced out Mr 'Chelsea' will not leave gracefully and will always be around to put the boot in to any prospective centre back. If he stays what can he actually coach into Stones? Become a yard dog who likes to think he is a 'tough' guy, that is until Seamus shoves him and he is made to look a pillock, that gets sent off at crucial times for his club and protected by refs.

Mourinho's pursuit of Stones has announced to the world that his defence is not up to scratch. A bit of a dumb thing to do.

Welcome, that's quite a statement.

I hope you are right.....

I thought Mourhino said he would back off if we said he isn't for sale. We have said it on his second bid as reported by Sky yet a 3rd bid is inevitable and according to press we are in talks with Chelsea to come to some kind of arrangement. I am confused here. He is either for sale but not at the price bid or he is not for sale which we have stated.
