John Stones transfer saga

40m and I will be happy if he is sold, as it'll lead us to being an all-round stronger squad. 40m would be an unbelievable sale for us tbh, and we all know it.
Plus 8m in add on's, squeeze them for as much as we can just like them lot over the park did with Wilma.

I don't believe City and Utd aren't interested either, they are just letting Chelsea go about it in all the wrong ways and monitoring the situation, any sniff we are open to a deal with Chelsea and they will be in, defo Utd, Rio piping up in the media tells me he knows Utd are interested, he's doing what Terry and Cahill have been doing and promoting his former club to Stones.

Fellaini arguably didn't suit our style of play anymore and we got a ridiculous amount for him. He's nowhere near that value. If Roberto had wanted to keep him we could have, regardless of his transfer request. Arteta was never the same after his injury and his performances had declined, 10 mill was good money. Rodwell as well went with the managers blessing because he was offering nothing to the squad. In came Jelavic and Pienaar and we turned the season around with that money.

I genuinely think the only two examples of us being a 'selling club' were Rooney and Lescott with the latter again being an astronomical price. This is not bad at all in comparison to our peers. Even if you take the full list Rooney, Lescott Arteta Pienaar Rodwell Fellaini. Over a decade that is nothing compared to Owen, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Benayoun, Meireles, Kuyt, Reina, Suarez, Sterling OR Carrick, Modric, Van der Vaart, Bale, Berbatov, Keane. And they're just the ones off the top of my head. It's not even worth putting down Arsebal's sales. It's ridiculous for anyone to think Everton is a selling club. Since Rooney we have sold on the manager's terms when the money involved has made the deal more beneficial for Everton than keeping the player. I imagine the same will be the case for Stones. We will keep him until a value of money will be judged by the manager to be of more benefit to the squad than Stones the player. He's such a good player that it's unlikely a club will offer whatever the magic number is. We'll therefore be able to keep him.

That is what I have said all along, he will go when the price is right for the board though, not the manager! He is just a sock puppet who is on good wages and will not rock the boat.

The same Everton that currently has a host of players that various 'big clubs' are clamouring to have on their books...Stones, McCarthy, Mirallas, Coleman, Barkley. None have yet been sold despite the constant drivel the media puts out to convince them life is better elsewhere

You're wasting your time posting positive and sensible things here. The knee jerkers love a good Everton bashing to make out that we're the club we were when Rooney went.

It's just not true. We don't need the money and we've shown over the past 2-3 seasons at least that we're not prepared to be bullied by the so called bigger clubs. Baines was going to go for £5m according to the media yet we stayed strong and he caused no fuss. Fellaini ended up going for £27m. Jagielka was meant to go to Arsenal etc.

Yet on here, some like to make out like we're going to sell all of our best players for cheap because Kenwright doesn't care about the club and we need to sell.

Forget Stones for a minute, why haven't McCarthy, Barkley, Mirallas, Lukaku and Coleman all left yet?

I also don't see how Martinez could have handled this any better either. Everyone moaned about Moyes' small time mentality when Martinez is bigging us up telling the media to not forget who we are. 9 league titles etc.

lol oh the irony! I presume you are referring to my last posts in here as it cannot be a concidence.

I will keep this simple, I am talking about Stones, nobody else, as nobody else is really under discussion for sale for something over 30M which is a price I am saying will be too much for this board not to accept to make the move happen.

He might not go in this window, but he will go and be playing CL football for a club who can compete in that space, I really don't see how you need to argue that point.

The only way he won't leave, is if he does not want to for whatever reason.

Yes football finances have changed and yes we do well to get the best price for players when they do leave, I am not dismissing any of those points.

Yes it has...one thing hasn't changed though, we still have the same hamstrung owners.

I am sure they will get the right money for him when he goes though, they at least manage to get that bit right.

Anyway, as I said earlier, if he harbours any ambition of playing top flight football in europe he will be off and that is undeniable. Convince yourself to the opposite as much as you like, but he aint getting CL football with Everton as it stands.

But he'll stay at Everton for the next season. There's no rush from either party for him to leave.

Your whole point is based around the fact that Baines and Jags stayed. Yes they did, maybe they are comfortable with where they are. Coleman and Barkley, as they are both still young could easily go either way and well you know it.

I have altered my post as to not add to your quotes, don't want you getting upset.

If Stones does not want CL footy and the chance to win things he will stay, if he does want those things he will leave, i'm done on this now as I feel I am just stating the obvious.
You can knock that tone off.

Your whole point seems to be that you're so sure that Stones is going to leave, when he is in fact contracted to us for years, with no precedent one way or the other. If we sold every single player of quality then I'd agree with you, but we don't and I don't.

I prefer to look on the positive side and think he'll stay, and hope that he can try to win things at Everton.

There was no "tone" to it, I was being genuinely polite.

The lad knows he is guaranteed a full season of playing. He also knows that if he's any good, his price and salary will go up. If he wants to be England Captain, as many suggest he may well become, then he won't want to be seen 'rocking the boat'........

I wasn't targeting any specific posters to be honest, just the ones who make out we give our players up easily these days. But having read one of your posts back where you questioned this:

It's up to the club to convince the likes of Stones that it has ambition..and then build on it

How can Martinez for example have done any more? They've publicly slated Chelsea for their interest in Stones, Martinez has come out and said we are a big club who is trying to achieve things etc.

I just think too many people are quick to slate the club these days. Just my opinion.

That chinless turd Ferdinand piping up means they're very keen, especially the way he worded it. Make no mistake, if it's between Chelsea and United, he'll go to United, and I'd rather he did as they'll pay more. United also have the benefit of not being Chelsea.

He'll stay this season then go to Barcelona for £50m though, so all this unsettling nonsense is pointless.

It's the nature of football fans though, isn't it? We are, for the most part, loud and opinionated. Everything is entirely good or entirely bad.

The issue of the board is so divisive that they can do no right in the eyes of some. A lot of the anti-board folk are afraid to give any ground on the club's Stones stance, despite the fact that it's been pitch-perfect.

I suppose the thinking is that if they give any credit to Kenwright and co., then they lose the broader argument about whether they are good for the club or not. That's nonsense, of course.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of grey. I wish we had a bit more of it. It makes for more interesting discussion.

If Stones goes he will only do so if Martinez agreed to let him go, he is contracted to Everton, if Roberto thinks we can let hm go at this late stage i think it will seal Roberto's fate.
