John Stones transfer saga

I sort of see where you're coming from but if he wants to go then what's the point of keeping an unhappy player?

Having said that, I've neither seen nor heard anything to suggest he wants out apart from journos desperate to fill column inches.
The point, as LFC illustrated, is you keep hold of said unhappy player until the price is met. No shortage of admirers of Stones from clubs with deep pockets .

Go for it stonsey lad,30 million in the bank at Woodson park and you've just won the lottery mate.

You alone ate not gonna keep us from relegation fight this season wich looks obvious at the moment, but 30 mil for a defender with some 4 weeks transfer window open

Sort out the attacking third, gett some balls Martinez

End of rant. Sorry

Daily Fail have written a piece spying on Stones as he did some shopping in Cheshire ("near several Man Utd Stars' homes").

Apparently Stones looked 'relaxed'.

People actually get paid to write such crap.
On the plus side they didn't mention him limping and can just imagine John having a laugh in training about being the target of paparazzi.

He has also found his car keys so won't need to use the chatty club driver hopefully until the end of the window ;)

I still don't understand how anyone believes the club driver non-sense.

"How are you today Mr. Distin?"

"I really hate Martinez, and so do loads of other players. Mind if I tell you about it?"

The more I think about it the more it makes sense to accept the next bid. Not saying its the right way to go about things but with our finances isn't it really the only way to move on. If we do sell him then I would expect the full amount to go into incoming players and not another few hundred lawnmowers. Its a sad state of affairs we are in.

If the next bid is 40 million then sure I'll accept it.

Otherwise, no. Just no. If Sterling is worth 49 million, then Stones is worth 40 easily. It's not like Chelsea don't have the money. They can pay up.

Increasing number of respected journos saying he will go once a bid of 30m+ comes in, can't help but agree with them and I'm absolutely gutted about it. The question I would like RM and the board to answer is this, these 3 signings RM has said we need, are these dependent on the Stones money or did we already have the money for them? I think we all know the real answer to this and it's beyond a pish take. If Stones goes we'll need 2 new centre halves 1st team ready, how is that going to happen when RM has so far failed to even bring one in?

Nope.

If Bill Kenwright can't run the club without selling our best players to finance new signings, then Bill Kenwright should be the one going, not John Stones.

We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over and over again without looking to solve the actual problem. People need to stop just accepting things the way they are. Things should and could be better.

I really hope he doesn't go. Unfortunately I fear our transfer kitty depends on it. Hope I'm wrong on this. If he stays and we don't buy anyone for a significant sum (say £25m for 3 players) then the inevitable questions will be asked. But if this happens (albeit late in the window) whilst not ideal, it may be 'acceptable'. The waiting for news is torture, even though its not an uncommon feeling!

But he isn't. That price included the now standard Man City 'double your money' premium applicable to all players they wish to buy. Chelsea are a little more sensible with their money, so maybe and hopefully they won't meet Everton's valuation and Stones will stay.

So many assumptions in there

My sentiments exactly. The problem is there for all to see yet people seem to accept it and the worse excuse is when people defend the fact he has no money.
