John Stones transfer saga

Have we ever sold a player against Moyes or Martinez's wishes? Doubt it mate. It's the one good thing that Bill makes sure happens. Moyes might have had to have sold to buy at times, but who he sold, who he bought, and how he managed HIS budget was always up to him.

I always remember when we sold Arteta and we did not have time to get any deals sorted..... Stop laughing people. A few months later Moyes admitted the money went to the bank.

Looking back at his words, you could see his heart was not in it anymore. He was well paid and accepted the lack of support and backing to buy new players.

Just hope Martinez does not end up the same way.

I'll start being worried at an offer of about 28 mil, but ultimately, I reckon it'll be around 35 that see's him go.

And bearing in mind it's Chelsea, with us owing them money for Lukaku, is there any way that could have an effect? Especially in terms of FFP and how our board deal with this situation?

FFP has been binned now.

Yes, that was bad what unfolded, but I still reckon Moyes had to sanction the sale. Mikel was gone in the head as an Everton player. Didn't he cry to leave?

Think maybe the banks put pressure on us after that, because we had a surplus of unexpected cash sitting in the bank.

I'm pretty sure BK was under pressure to stump up £10m against the debt at the time otherwise it may have been called in. We were in a mess financially then, and still would be if it wasn't for the TV deal.

The banks were putting pressure on us that summer. If you look back that was during the time we never made a significant signing for over two years.

That summer we had a fire sale with Yak, Beckford, Arteta going and the only incoming was Straq and Drente on loan.

It would have been put to Moyes that we needed to sell, he was paid handsomely to put up with it.

Oh, absolutely. As you say, it will have been put to him that we had to sell, was still his choice who he sold though. Could have easily sold Baines and Jags in that window, and for lots more money.

When was it we knocked back silly money for Saha from that Turkish club (FFS)? Was that in the same period? Genuine question.

EDIT: And more to the point, I don't believe the gaffer is under any pressure to sell. So irrelevant in this context really.

I only hope the board don't see this as an option to get some money to try and use to be part of a funding scheme for a stadium.

Every player has a price and as long as we get that price I can accept the sale of John Stones or any other player...reluctantly.
I think the price should be 50m. It is not unrealistic, Chelsea themselves got that amount of money from the sale of a centrehalf they didn't even want.

In truth I don't think Everton will sell this summer at almost any price. The manager has mentioned several times about keeping his squad together and I genuinely think that is the intention of the club this summer.

If that was their thinking, then you'd see Coleman, Jags, Baines, Stones, Barkley McCarthy, Mirallas, and Lukaku sold before the window is out.

We'd be left with a squad of Howard, Robles, Hibbert, Browning, Galloway, Oviedo, Garbutt, Pienaar, Gibson, Besic, Osman, Deulofeu, Barry and Kone.

Ahhh, reminds me of the Johnson days.

He's come very far in a short-time.

I think he's a bright lad happy at a good club and he knows that Chelsea and others will still be there in a few years.

Luiz £50m 2014
T. Silva £35m 2012
Mangala £32m 2014
Ferdinand £30m 2002
Shaw £30m 2013
Aalves £28.5m 2008
Coetrao £27m 2011
Benatia £23.9m 2014
Thuram £22m 2001
Nesta £21m 2002
Carvalho £20m 2004
Stam £16.4m 2001

He's better than these Mugs.
