John Stones transfer saga

DO NOT SELL

The premier league money has made all clubs financially secure - or as good as. We don't need to sell to survive now. Chelsea/City etc can't bully clubs an longer with £ signs.

Let's see what Everton can do with stones, Barkley, lukaku etc. it might just surprise us all.

Give him a new contract now with annual pay rises to make him our highest paid player in 2-3 years as a sweetener. Show stones our commitment to him.
I liken it to the 3 little pigs analogy. The TV money has enabled clubs outside the massively moneyed (the wolves), to upgrade their hut from straw construction to wood. But to get to the next step a (wolf-proof) brick house we need an investment capital (equity) injection of 50-100mio. I don't see this as imminent, but in the absence of said, retaining the quality players we have, and attempting some 'organic' rebuilding upgrade is vital.

Anyone have any background on Stones agent....after all it's the agent who will make THE decision. I get the feeling Stones is more than happy at Everton and that Martinez simply will not sell.....which in truth would be great for Everton and brilliant for football in general for a so-called selling club to give the oil billionaires a right royal two fingered cheerio.

Is his agent decent or just another leach?

I love that we're contributing to Jose's meltdown and Chelsea's loss of confidence.

It'll be so sweet to see his surly, defeated face at Goodison on the 12th of September.

Stay strong, EFC.

Saw someone say before the start of the season that Mourinho was unsettling his own defense by so openly pursuing a new defender. Now they're all playing poorly and have lost confidence, and our position has only got stronger. Chelsea have played this terribly.

My one worry in all this is that Mourinho doesn't like to be proven wrong.

Losing out on Stones would be a massive blow to his ego. He won't let that happen lightly.

But that makes our current stonewalling so much more enjoyable. You can just imagine him turning purple with rage at our cold refusal to play his game.

The board will benefit massively by keeping Stones - his value will only go one way unless he has a massive drop in form or a catastrophic injury. This time next season the likes of Real and Barca or Bayern could well be knocking, and if PSG and City show an interest too then it's not inconceivable that the value we currently place on him could double. The really minted clubs don't mind gambling huge sums on talent...look at the money Di Maria attracted over two quick sales, and Bale and bang-average players like Sterling and Luiz. Everyone who's anyone can see Stones is going to be a top class centre back for years to come.
In a strange way this Stones saga could really work in Evertons favour.....it puts us firmly in the World football spotlight, and if we continue to resist Chelsea's billions it will show us in a brilliant light. At the same time it surely must make the odd billionaire or consortium takea second glance at 'Everton'.

He's not going anywhere lads, let Chelsea and the media fume. We've rejected all their bids so far and aren't even willing to go to the negotiation table. Chelsea misread the situation and thought the club would cave in and sell easily (as did a sizable amount of our fans) while martinez and co have held ground
