Handy to throw it through the chosen ones window with a letter saying not for sale!

They paid £25m for Cuadrado and he's made 4 starts. Plus they're already looking to sell him again.

He's not John stones pal, the lads best defender in England bar none they're not trying to buy him not to play him, they know he'll not sign for them not to be played, if they make offer worthy of speaking to him they know his first question will be will I play week in week out why would they keep persuring him if the answer no,they're trying to buy him to play him

Hey guys lets sell that ace defender of ours whose value is only likely to grow while he makes our defence so much better and sign some FIFA playerZ instead!

I know you're just messing around, but for me it's about smart asset management. If (and that's a big question) Everton came to the conclusion this summer they're "probably" going to sell Stones next summer, they should've given Chelsea a clear buy him now number. If they were willing to overpay in July to avoid a bidding war next summer, do the deal.

There's going to be significant squad turnover next summer. I'm of the opinion the benefit of starting that transition a year early outweighs the negative of one less season from Stones, if the club are resigned to selling him next summer regardless.

That said, if I were in charge everything the club did this year would revolve around recruiting Stones, Barkley, Lukaku et al to stay at Everton as long as possible.

As soon as Everton accept a bid from Chelsea, Man Utd, Man city, and Barcelona will match it and let John choose, absolutely nailed on.

We have a winner!!!!
Brilliant stuff mate. It is posts like this that make GOT the best forum on the interweb. Kudos

PS I recently got a 1 week ban for penning a not dissimilar 'flight of fancy'-type post. The mods message that came with the ban went "worried about your sanity". lol lol

paramedic : "doctor! what's happened to Mr Deipnosophist"?
Doctor : "it appears he has expired due to extreme hyper-fume"
paramedic : "b-b-but Doc, the window isn't closed yet!"
Doctor : "what do you mean, "it's not closed"?...FFS! get me some of those heart jump starters!"

(sizzling sounds of electricity is heard, lights in the theatre fluctuate bright/dim)

Paramedic : "Doc!!...he's coming to!"

Deipnosophist (drowsily) : grrr:rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant:

Pretty sure that is Martinez' plan, keeping those 3 + McCarthy as a spine to build around.

Assuming we were allowed to spend it on players, it would be quite exciting to have £40m to play with right?

I was all for keeping Stones, but £40 million seems like a good deal to me.

Yeah great, if you're playing footy manager. Most of us operate in the real world where replacing someone without the fee being over inflated or not as good as Stones is the only real result.
