John Stones transfer saga

Erm... how exactly?

Barnsley are a club who will develop players, sell, reinvest and move up the leagues. All power to them.

You reach a glass ceiling on doing that in the Premier League, and I thought that by developing a 'golden generation' we were aiming to do just that.

How is it 'condescending' to point out Everton's aims are different to Barnsleys? It's the same as Chelsea's are different to Everton's - but like Barnsley have a choice with their business model, so do we, and selling Stones right now flies in the face of the bollox Martinez has said we're trying to do as a club.
We are exactly the same but the scale is different. We appeal to players lower down the leagues and are a stepping stone for the hyper clubs. Our business model is the same pretty much as Barnsley since Martinez arrived. We are trying to achieve a direct line from reserves to first team and fill in the gaps from player sales. Our aim is to be successful, same as Barnsley, same as Chelsea.

The lad is miles off as a defender. He's simply second rate positionally.
Agreed, particularly when the ball is being crossed in. it's a failing well recognised within the club. £30m+? Sell. Forget pride. If Utd are going to lose their key man then we can afford to lose one of ours without feeling we've been humiliated.

Is it not possible that another club may join the bidding? It would be just like our board to manipulate such a situation to get the price as high as possible. The thought of him going right now is appalling, especially the timing. If he ends up at Chelsea, I'd be at a very low ebb. Koff Mourinho, Koff the board.
Sharpens pitchfork.
