John Stones transfer saga

'ONE MAN, CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE'

He's a defender too like

I mean, he might keep a clean sheet but if people aren't scoring the goals, it's all for naught

If there was any player who I could say was the one difference between us winning something or not, it'd be McCarthy and even that's me stretching to find someone

John Stones may be the difference from us finishing in the top half or not, but he's not the man who will win us something single handed

He's a very important member of the team though, and for that reason I hope we keep him

To be honest even if we got £40m I'd still be hesitant. I'm not fully convinced Martinez would get all of that, nor I am convinced he'd spend it all wisely.

Whereas if we don't sell John Stones, then we have John Stones. And John Stones is John Stones. And that's a damn fine thing to be.

Its like the Rebel Alliance selling Luke Skywalker.

Joke even considering it.

Tbf, Martinez did try to sign Stones at Wigan.

The only defenders he's signed so far in his time at Everton are Alcaraz and Galloway.

Alcaraz turned out to be poo, but he was on a free and only signed to replace Heitinga on the bench.

Galloway is too early to call, but he looks a talent based on what little I've seen.

Clearly Lukaku.

If he isn't scoring the goals, then nobody is.

This is why I said I'm not convinced. As in I'm kind of unsure really.

Some of Martinez's signings have been really good, some have been really bad and some of being completely meh.

So given a massive wedge to spend, there's no guarantees we'd end up with a stronger squad, given that the only guarantee in this hypothetical is that we'd lose John Stones, a potentially world class player.
